    Hi I have 2000 reg beetle its a 1984 cc engine size I went to the local vw dealership and I was qouted between £190-£350 they said theres 3 different types of starter motor for my car could anyone please tell me where I could get a cheaper one please

    Thank you very much I've just looked on their website theres 3 on one a RTX at £64.99, a lucus one at £76.50 or a bosch one At £90 any advice on which to get please

    Always go for the best you can afford, usually you pay for quality so if its more it should be better having said that both lucas and bosch have a very good reputation.

    Just a quick update I ordered the bosch one but when I went to the shopping cart the charge went up to £210 theres a surcharge of £110 and the cost of the lucus one once in the basket is £118

    Some of them require you to send the old one back to them so they can then refurb and reuse it. I must have got one of the other ones then as I didn't give one back to them.

    If in doubt, go in store to get one - they have a lot of them around the country.
