Found some road test images of the 2012 beetle or new, new, new, new beetle if you count all the face lifts the bug has had since launch.

note the lights and bumpers are just the out going models and will be different, well they say anyway. i think the profile looks a little like the ragster but dare i say very much like a PT cruiser, oh dear.

    Bloody awful :(
I'll be sticking with my original shape NB! At least it actually resembles a Bug, this is going a whole new way...

I think its awful to its completly lost the front, and back curves. I do hope when it finally comes out that its better in the flesh. It really lacks character :(

If you look at the shape of the '11 bug and compare it to an air-cooled one you'll see they are a lot more alike in shape compared to the current nb, however, from the pics I don't like the look of it, but I will reserve judgement until I see the finished new nb :)

couple more detailed pics. the 2012 Beetle will appear at the Shanhi motor show in April as well as the New York motor show with its final production model.

fingers crossed it will not have this front end. however i like some of the side details.

Next thing you know, it will have integral wings, a flatter roof and will be renamed something like......Golf.....

Sorry, saw one the other week on the road and I hate it. The back lights alone are just wrong!!

And why, oh why does it need the boot spoiler (aptly named!) surely to preserve the Beetles "roundness" which is distinctly lacking, a pop up one would have been better....

We have one on order, due in about 8 weeks time, being honest I think it has lost some of its character, but, its also a vast improvement as a car as well, and as long as you get your head around that then its fine.

However, every car from the factory doesnt really have a great deal of character, the thing with Bugs is what you do with it to make it your own and give it your own character.

When the original New Beetle came out I thought it was an awful car, didnt like it at all, however, once the wife got one etc I realised that the character of a beetle is what you make of it.
