    Hello All
59 plate 1.6 Beetle, showing the dreaded 01314 code.
As this indicates intermittent loss of signal from Canbus to ECM, I thought it would make sense to disconnect the 2 multiplugs at ECM, and ensure there are no corroded pins, etc that might be affecting these signals.
The question: Are there any precautions before disconnecting these 2 multiplugs ? For instance, disconnect battery first ? Or remove one before the other ? I don't want to spike the ECM or cause any other issues in doing this inspection. Also do not want to corrupt ECM programming / memory.
Any guidance appreciated before I proceed. ECM is exposed and waiting....

I would disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes first.
