Audi TT Front Brake Upgrade With the various threads about fitting brake upgrades to Beetles, I thought I'd add to the 'knowledge pool' with details of the front brake conversion on the TT, courtesy of Dan Turner at Turner Race Developments in Stroud, Gloucestershire - http://www.turner-race-developments.co.uk/ Absolute professional service, very fast turn around (less than 4 hours to fit brakes and carry out pre-MOT check) - we drive 120 miles to get this level of care - if you are serious about engineering upgrades give Dan or Jamie a call. Standard front discs were off the car before I'd finished my coffee - looking a bit tatty with still a few more miles in them but decided to change them as the car was MOT'd later in the day Standard caliper looking a bit dull and grubby - but they have done 103K miles without any tlc Grubby old caliper and hose sat next to supersized new caliper finished in Volkswagen R Line powder coated gloss black Ferodo pads look huge and very thick on the bench Two piece custom set up - 345mm ventilated disc and alloy mounting bell, these two together are lighter than the original disc that they are replacing. No drilled holes, slots or J slots on these as we wanted quiet brakes Coming together on the car, caliper brackets hinting at the size of the new calipers about to go on Now that's what we are talking about - Volkswagen R Line caliper (same as used on Audi S3, Scirocco R, Golf R and Edition 35) and custom 345mm ventilated disc and alloy bell. BBS CH 8.5"x19" ET35 wheel back on with discrete caliper showing through TRD branding visible through wheel Rear view of installation showing lack of clearance issues - this was a bolt on solution with nothing needing modifying to fit. Goodridge braided hoses fitted at the same time, again wrapped in gloss black finish Milltek 3" exhaust system showing sports cat on front section and middle silencer and flexi hose removed - gives loads of grunt now as well as the occasional pop on over-run
Audi TT brake upgrade And these are brief details of the rears that were fitted at the end of December - again based on Volkswagen R Line parts and custom discs. TT seen sharing the workshop with TRD's electric Polo as seen in this month's PVW magazine and the trackday monster Audi usually seen having fun at Castle Combe with Dan, Jamie or dad Dave at the wheel.
That is clean - it has had bits of road kill hanging off it before as it used to run way too low and regularly collected fur or feathers on it's travels.
The beauty of dealing with motorsport companies is they are used to dealing with one off jobs, so in answer to your question - yes. Dan sources the custom brake parts partly from BG Developments who are an odd and brilliant firm to deal with - best dealing through TRD. Be warned though - our fronts were ordered when the rears were fitted on Dec 21st and they arrived at 11.30am yesterday with the car on the ramp and the brakes removed. Deadlines seem to be a very movable feast for BG so best not to take anything off the car until you've got replacement parts sat there in front of you. Drop Dan a line or give him a call but be warned that they are busy and can't always get to the phone straightaway.
