Always been a VW owner and our next purchase is going to be a new Beetle for the wife's daily. Budget dictates an early one and I've seen some right dogs so far... A 1.8t auto has come up and I'm slightly interested. Are they any good or should I avoid?

    Thanks in advance

    Hiya,

The early auto boxes aren't the best to be honest. Some have no issues, but some have big problems. If you don't need an auto, it might be best to look for a manual.

+1..... If you don't need an auto. don't buy one as they can be troublesome. You may be lucky and have miles of trouble free motoring, but if you do decide on purchasing one ask has the Transmission fluid and filter been changed, most probably not as VW say it will last the life of the car. but recommend you have it changed for piece of mind.
