Yeh!
Just a little concerned about the ride height after smoking my sump:confused:
40mm will look better and could get away with running std shocks till they die. Just unsure?
It's the hassle of the repairing if it happens again - and waiting a bloody eternity:mad:
What do ya think?
DARYL - BMS
24th April 2007, 12:49
You could run 40mm on stock shocks no problems I reckon - V5 shocks are probably built better too than say a 1.6/2.0ltr shocker.
As for not hitting the sump, just go up drives etc at a 45 degree angle, works wonders.

Sounds like a plan then!
I'm gonna keep me stock 17's so will a 40mm look ok?
I've heard that just springs can give an uneven stance ie: lower at the front cos of the engine weight. Would it be worth will getting a 40mm front and a 50mm rear drop? or 30mm front/40mm rear??
DARYL - BMS
24th April 2007, 13:12
40mm over 17's will look fine - as they aren't a bad looking wheel to be honest!
As for being uneven - that's complete bollocks, it is true if your running the WRONG poundage spring though. As the lowering springs are produced for a certain model... For example Lucy has a diesel, and her car sat lower at the front because the engine is heavier than a petrol's - the springs she used where designed for a petrol - hence the uneven stance and it bouncing around.
Spring's for cabriolet's, diesels, turbo'd models etc etc, are produced with a certain poundage when the spring is wound - so it's specifically tailored for the cars weight. Get what I mean? So it would be 40/40 all round, although the front will most probably sit a extremely tiny amount lower at the front - which all lowered cars should.
Shamrockez
24th April 2007, 13:12
If you don't use V5 springs then it will give you a slight nose down stance as the extra weight of the engine will pull the springs a bit tighter. But if you get ones made for the V5 it should be 40mm all round.
ff_rabbit
24th April 2007, 13:17
Cheers!
Better start looking for some V5 springs then :D

Somewhere in the depth of this thread or the other one I`m sure someone said other VW`s were welcome - as long as we`re not inundated with GTi`s of course

I've asked in the staff room. Sharky, Lukey and Will have all had Newbies and have been existing members for a long time - hence why there's no questions asked about why they're allowed to take non Newbies.
I wouldn't imagine there would be a problem with other VAG cars coming, as long as they're not taking up spaces for Newbies in the main bit of car park, and park together so the Newbies don't have random other cars in the middle of them.
:)

It starts at 2, that gives everyone time to get there. I will be there sooner to rope off the car park (probably the night before) so if anyone wants to get there earlier then thats fine too.
As for the other VAGs coming - i dont see the harm in it - we may ask them not to park with us but they can still come if they like.
It is mainly a bug meet and we should probably try and keep it that way for the most part but we want to be friendly!!
We can ask them to move when we have photos taken. ;)
