Got me 1.8T scanned today, it threw up one fault code "17608 (P1200)Turbo charger recirc valve mech fault". >:( I knew there was a problem due to surging on hard acceleration.)

The thing is, im undecided if to replace this with another stock unit or go for a baily or forge!!

Any views??

Go for standard if you don't mind replacing them every 20k miles or whatever...

Forge do both piston and diaphragm types as well, and will last a lot longer...of course, they are around 4 times the price of a plastic one :D

Charlie's got a Forge in her bug we got it at the show in Telford £85 at the start of the year and Ash fitted it for us it made a diference when we put it one :)

you can see it on this pic:

make sure you get a recirculating one and not a blow off as you can spanner your engine with the blow off's VAG engines don't like them ;)

I found this on the Forge website if it explaines the difference???

"Unlike diaphragm diverter valves, this uses counter balanced springs and a single piston to prevent the valve from leaking air into the intake system at idle. This prevents our diverter valves suffering any of the failures associated with single piston and diaphragm type diverter valves."

Well after a huge debate with the crappy dealership, seen as cash is a little tight at the mo :-/ a standard 710N recirc valve is on order £24.50 all in, not bad i thought??

this whole dump valve thing is mad..some cars like them some cars dont. think it all depends on the engine code. i know you can run a dump valve on a AGU but the newer types dont seem to like them.i tried one on my AGU and it ran a bit poo. but you can change the position of the dump valve closer to the throttle intake and blank out the original diverter valve and that is ment to work.
i have a forge diverter on mine andran a bit smoother after my old orininal was badly warn...
