Vagcom softare can be downloaded freee from www.ross-tech.com. I have downloaded the software, but still have to buy a lead. Make sure you buy the correct one as they do vary. The website will be able to help you with that.

I bought a VAg com cable, but not from ebay (i'll try and find the link)

from what ive heard its better to spend a bit more and get a good one, also get a Serial one ans apposed to a USB as there can be issues with recognising the lead.

and make sure you get the right one for your year of car!

you will have to look at your interface (normally under glove box) and see what the label says(hex, can,bi etc). From this you will be able to determine what software you need to download for your car.

Used to have one when I had Gertie, bought mine off ebay, worked a treat (was a USB one too) the only downside is the software is shareware so you don't get the full version, meaning you can't change settings etc, only scan for and clear error codes.

A Useful thing to have for £20 especially as a diagnostic from a stealer is £70!
