service message on dash

My Beetle has just done 47k & I noticed yesterday that a service message flashed up on the dash when I turned the key. It didn't say in how many miles just the word service. Does nayone know how soon I have to get her done?

if it just says service it normally means it needs it now, when did u last get it done

No warning, don't know if I'm on longlife either :(

When I bought her in March she had no recent servicing records & I haven't had her done since I had her.

Sherb had her last one in november with her MOT, so mine might flash up then

if you hae only had it done a few months ago just rest the service light yourself

If you don't know her history and you've never had her serviced, it might be worth it for peice of mind. What's the mileage?

Mileage is 47200k

She's almost up to the 50k service anyway, so might as well get it done.
