EPC? what does it stand for??

Just picked up 03 beetle cab and the EPC light comes and no ref to it in the handback...also the esp triangle keeps coming on intermittently...

also what do the red leds in the rear view mirror do?

EPC - Electronic Power Control (i.e. Engine Management system) fault - quick Google says it`s possibly a faulty brake light switch ?
If the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) light comes on as well I`d go back where you bought the car from and ask them to fix it - BTW, I`ve not really hammered our cab but I know on our Focus the traction control light comes on when the system is working (ie. round corners in the wet when booting it *;) ), don`t know if the VW system is the same ?

The red led`s under the mirror light up the flower in the dash at night *;)

Thanks for that...just had VW assist out and they said it was the ESP button unit which was not propoerly disengaging and their causing the EPC light to come on...all fixed in 15 minutes...so am happy......

asked him about boot issue to which he replied it is a common thing but if becomes a real nuisance book it in and they will adjust or replace under warranty...so may do that in a couple of months......
