Why does Vagcom not work with the V5?

I've got an OBD-II VagCom cablewith version 409-1 of Vagcom, but it tells me that my car is not OBD-II compatible (but the cable plugs in fine!)??? Does the V5 have a different On Board comp then?

No idea - I wouldn't have thought they'd have changed it? Could be wrong tho....

I know some dubs use something called CANBUS, maybe the V5 has that?

Can't see any reason why it's not working...the V5 is no different from any other Beetle and uses exactly the same connector, and internal systems as any other Mk4 based platform

The Mk4 does have CAN-BUS, but it doesn't use it to the same extent as the Mk5 based cars, which do need a revised lead for VAG-COM

Hmmm maybe i'll try reinstalling the software and try again. I'll try it on another car and check it isn't the cable. Either that or my OBD socket is dodgy?

Cheers i'll try that, I did wonder if it was a driver problem, it's deffo VagCom/the cable and not Archie as i've tried it on 3 cars now and it didn't work on any!

Got it working, I had to download the drivers from the company I bought the cable off.

Just need to 'find' a full version of Vagcom now ;)
