Little red stringy bit!!!

Hi,
Get our new cab next week, went into dealers today to have a drool over other cars and noticed a little red string in the hole when the roof is down on a cab.

Anyone know what this is for?

looks like a bit of an after thought?

They are for if the hood motor packs up.

There's one each side, and you pull them up together to manually lift the roof.

Ahh ha,
defo an afterthought then, the wonderfully clued up sales guy said he had no idea when I asked him, or perhaps he did but did not want to give the impression that the hood motor might fail.
