Hey anyone suggest a good induction kit for 2.0 motor?

Had K+N before on other cars and not had any problems with them, heard that new bugs MAF sensors dont like them? Is this true?

Something to do with the oil on them? arnt all filters oiled anyway even stock ones?

someone suggested GREEN or PIPERCROSS filters.

Comments much appreciated!

hey lemon bugs

i had a K+N on my 2.0l for a while but took it off, it seemed like there was lag in between gearchanges. Something to do hot air getting sucked in apparently. if i where to put another 1 on if wud try and get a stanless steel filter with a heatshield. as a few people have reccomended them.
do you want one for power or for the sound, because i didnt think it made a lot of difference in power but i have still got a standard sorst on.

pre oiled k&n is there to catch the dust in the air otherwise you clogg up your engine with sh*t i had one on my last car for years just used the recharger kit every year was fine just ad a k&n breather fillter as well then no warm air will flow in

Hey People, just a quick question if theres a problem with the oil on these filters then how come the closed filters work?

Just wondered? is it a myth that oil kills the MAF? I read somewhere that the beetle MAF is glass cased? ;D

Shamrockez

Oil and VAG MAFs don't mix :(

It's not a myth.

How come people are using pipercross filters that are the same as k+n filters? :)

Shamrockez
10th December 2006, 02:37
No idea ;D Some last much longer than others. I guess some are better at keeping the MAF alive than others too.

filters are different to induction kits.....

if you just put a filter in the only thing you will notice is engine will breathe easier and minimal gain in power there will be no difference in sound

induction kit on new beetle has to be an enclosed unit preferably cold air forced induction - if you use an open filter you are gonna have a ****e system which wont work due to heat soak. If you want a roar then Pipercross induction kit that I run (see below) is THE best out there for the market.

Running anything other than an enclosed kit is madness the space under the bonnet in the bugs is just too small. If you want to drop a replacment panel filter in for starters get a Jetext one.

Hey i'm still confused about all this???

If the oil on an induction kit kills the maf, then how come you can run a closed filter kit with the same filter?

Neuspeed filter kits come with a heat shield but are supplied with a K+N "style" filter.

HELP!!! :-?

Its not induction kits that have oil that kill the MAF its "supposedly" drop in panel filters. Saying that I had a drop in K&N before I had the viper and had no trouble what so ever. As long as you look after it as per the instructions you should be fine.
