How to fit a genuine VW ipod adaptor part no 1K0 051 444
Tools required :-
Radio Keys 1C0 051 530
Torx bits (various)
Hand Tools
Take the centre dash off by sliding it towards the windscreen. They are very stiff and you may need to persuade it a little with a trim tool to release the clips.

insert the radio keys, they are printed on the top so you shouldn't be able to get them wrong. After about an inch you will feel them lock in place.

Pull on the keys and the radio should slide forward.

Press the spring retaining clips inwards releasing the keys.

Under the heater controls there is a plastic cap. Flip it off with a trim tool or screwdriver and take out the Torx screw.

Pull off the plastic end covers. You may have heated seat controls on yours? Remove the Torx screws behind the covers.

The switch assembly will just lower to the ground. Do not disconnect any wiring.

Remove the grab handle end caps by pulling them off. Remove the 2 Torx screws and remove the handle.

The wiring loom for the radio is tight behind the dash. Pull the radio forward whilst feeding the cable outwards from behind the dash with your other hand. Remove all of the cable connectors noting which one went where? You do not have to disconnect the battery when doing this but it may be advisable if you are uncertain.

Remove all the Torx screws in the glove box and with the centre dash removed you can lower it one side. Do not take the glove box out.

Pull the radio connectors out through the gap in the dash. You have to remove connector 8 (brown wire) with a special removal tool but you can get away with a couple of small split pins pushed in either side of the connector to release the spring tags that hold it in place.

Fit the new brown wire that came in the kit in place of the one you have just removed. Connect the wiring that came in the kit and feed the ipod lead into one of the two holes in the glove box where the service book is kept.Don't forget to fit a gromit to stop the cable chafing. Reassemble in reverse order. Enjoy!
