Got German plates now :) Bought them from Dubmeister - highly recommended, ordered 10am Tuesday and delivered by 10am Wednesday :o

I wanted to just put a small plate on the front but there were so many holes under the mount I decided to go for the German look ::)

how does the mount attach to the bumper?

i peeled off a bit of my plate and took a peek and looks like plastic pin things. no idea :-/

You`re right, it`s little plastic pins that push into plastic hole type things. I assume they`re one time use things unless you can get to the other side somehow.
I took one out but it was just a case of pulling and snapping off the pin so the rest of the fixing fell off.

so how did u fit the plate on?

I imagine he stuck them on with thoese sticky number plate fixers. Thats how Archies plates are stuck on, saves drilling them then! I've got loads at home.

Just take it off, the no plate would cover any holes if you stuck it back on anyway, failing that i'm sure you could buy a new one from the stealers or buy some chrome surrounds from Halfords, bling bling ;) ;D

I left the mount on and just stuck the plate on with sticky pads.

Luke`s right though, the no plate would cover up any holes under the mount.

Glad i dont have number plate holes in my front bumper *;D

:P :P :P :P

All I wanted to do to ours was take off the big black mounting thing and put a smaller plate on but there`s holes everywhere behind it ::)
So German plates it is :)

I didn`t *bother with the seals, I`m leaving the plates on all the time and didn`t want to risk any plod hassle.

I used the original surrounds, they look quite good as they just say - www.heritage-vw.co.uk *:)
