My story began in March 04 with this:
Billybug - A 2001 1.6 NB with the winterpack. *But when we got him home we realised he had a nasty dent in the bonnet (like someone had sat on it!) so I rejected it under VW's 30 day exchange scheme for Gertie
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v682/gertiebug/MYBUG.jpg
So I got Gertie a 2.0L 2001 Bug (slightly older on an X but lower mileage and aircon) exactly one month and 1000 miles later *;) ;D
She looked like this:

Within a few months she changed to this:

I then had a 6 month illness called a Smart Roadster:

Which has now been rejected for Archiebug!
A 2003 V5 Sport with heated leather - mmmmm!

TCut is yer best bet as its more abrasive but BE CAREFUL with it as it can leave white marks like it did on Gems Ka! And make sure you wax it afterwards, I haven't yet as the weather was too off and on to do it properly, i'll do that next weekend! ;D

I love the rear bumpers on those.

Whats wrong with good ole' TCut? ;D It's more abarasive so get scratches out better than Scratch X (or so I find! ;D )

Dunno when it was made, it was registered the 15th July 2003, i've seen V5's on 04's with the older style headrests and wing mirrors - As seen here at a VW main stealer!

And i'm gonna be different by staying the same *;) :P

Just makes me wonder when it was made, as you wanted to avoid the rust issues....
I am a headrest snob after having the new ones... I much prefer them for comfort!

As long as its built post 02 its fine (which it should be being a V5), plus you can tell as the roof is welded different (which Archies is!) :) Can you get V5's with the later headrests/wing mirrors?

11th October 2006, 20:51

yeah.... Mine on a 52 reg has old school mirrors, but new school headrests.... The newer sports have the new style everything.... even the wheels... big mistake, got to have them deltas!
billybug
12th October 2006, 17:54
The design of the Deltas are based on the design of the old GT Beetles arent they?

billybug

I reckon they are similar, well design cues from the design of the GT wheel has been used for the Deltas anyway?

Thought its time I updated my buggles history!
Archiebug has now been sold *:'( as i've got a Mini Cooper company car so with (some, well more than half!) of the money from the sale of Archie i've followed my dream and bought myslf a 1958 1200 LHD Swedish Import Classic Beetle that we've called Harry :D
The history of the car is as follows, he was imported by FBIVW, Swansea in 2005 and was bought by a guy called Martyn, he had a (horrible) new interior fitted and the car resprayed - no other resto work was required. *He then got a job as a long distance lorry driver and the car basically didn't move for nearly a year until it was sold to Spencer in Oct 06 of Swansea Aircooled fame, he ripped out the terrible flowery interior the guy replaced Harry's nice original one with and fitted TMI seats, he then used it for his wedding then put it up for sale as he needed the money to finish his Karmann Ghia. *I bought him in Late Jan 07. *So far i've replaced the carpets, TMI doorcards are on order from the states to match the TMI seats, he's had new US Spec bumpers, Radial tyres (he still had Xplys when I got him! :o ) and a full service and his brakes overhauled, he's had new wipers and arms, and a damn good clean and polish!
Anyways heres some piccies!
Heres how he looked in Oct 05 when he was imprted from Sweden by FBIVW, Swansea:
