Hi

I have been thinking about purchasing a Beetle and am aiming around the £4-7k mark.

Ideally I would like the following (I know I won't get 'em all):
Air Con
Winter Pack
Leather Seats
6 CD Changer
17/18" Wheels
Heated Seats
Rear Spoiler
Manual (has to be)
Fogs
Bright/Cool Colour

I'll add when I look further into it.

As near to Cambridge as poss but willing to travel :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Thanks for the info. I have looked on autotrader (wasn't sure if that was what the rolleyes was directed at), I was just wondering if people tried to sell their cars through forums before trying other avenues.

I've seen the first one but wasn't sure if it was LHD at that price? It's on my maybe list but needed to check that out first and was hoping for a colour (I've always had black cars). Not sure if the mileage is considered okay still at 72k.

The second one looks pretty cool - hadn't seen that one. Another maybe!

Third I had seen - mileage looks pretty good too.

The last one - does the 2.3 drink alot more? I have a daily round trip of 36 miles plus anything I want to do at the weekend, plus friends in distant places. Fuel costs are a factor. I have also heard that the V5 isn't as worthwhile as the V5 Sport and I should probably look for a 1.8T over a V5?!?!

Overall the 1.8T is the most tuneable engine, the V5 and V5 Sport Edition have exactly the same engines but the V5SE has all the goodies, but only comes in Silver or Black (Black is rare). The V5 is no more thirsty than the 2.0L, and uses less oil! (I've had both) the 1.8T is a bit more economical but not much. If you want economy go for the TDI, they are pretty quick too!

To get a TDi for that price it'll be either LHD or high miles. I did find on on autotrader for £4895 tho, 2002, RHD :o 100k on the clock, but it's just being run in for a diesel.

Thanks, Archiebug!

I think I'll eliminate the V5 and V5 Sport from my search.

What is the life expectancy of a diesel - would it really be okay at 100k?

Yeah I woud have thought so. Mine's on 85k at still going strong.

Diesels are built for high miles :)

Hi

I have noted the spec and it's probably not quite what I'm looking for - how much did you want? I am gathering info to make a shortlist.

what an exciting (and probably bewildering time). sure u will find the right one, and remember if u go to car dealers, the price will be overinflated but then u might get warrranties etc thrown in - best of luck and stick around :)

Bewildering? You've hit the nail on the head - I don't think I've ever been so confused [smiley=embarassed.gif]

Hi ashley

Could you pm me some pics/details.

Also, something I hadn't considered - how is insurance affected by mods and what do companies need to know?

Cheers
