Yes i'd like to know this please, think i may look into staying in a brick tent (Hotel) if it's dodgy or just leaving Blugg at home and getting the train down. Is it really that bad ?

Doodlebug

Yeah it does get rather packed there, plus i dont know if at this late stage there will be much accomodation left.

Try different campsites in and around Newquay. I've always steered clear of the 'official' one for RTTS it's a rip off and really horrible. Most other campsites are 'family orientated' as in, they will only allow couples and families. Hendra is really close to town 01637 875778 . Bit of a Butlins feel to the place but clean and close to where you want to be.
My personal fave is Trevella http://www.trevella.co.uk/touring_tents.htm
again, a 'family' campsite, but less of the Butlins about it and very peaceful and out of the way even though it's just a mile or so out of town

You know what babes, I'd love to.. but I tend to go to Newquay to surf these days, and it's waHay too crowded bank holidays for me to consider it. I'll make my trip down there about a month later, there's always loads of dubs down there anyway :) Another reason is that the boyf can't make it, and I don't wanna go on my lonesome (just call me Billy).

witchywoo
10th May 2007, 21:25
booo! i tried hendra but as me and my mate are not a couple, or even if we were, they don't allow same sex couples (surely thats against the law or summat?) so gotta try somewhere else.
i also didn't realise how far cornwall is!! it knew it was far from up north but it still is from essex. deffo not having a hangover for the drive home!! ;)

I'm pretty sure the show and shine on Sunday is free to get into?! I can't remember paying last year! Either that or it's only pay on the gate type thingy like some shows do! It's really cool with loadsa nice cars and stalls etc.

The Trevelgue 'book in advance' kinda thing is booking your tickets for that particular campsite and all the bands, event etc that are going on there. :)

witchywoo
13th May 2007, 18:34
thanks vicky.
looking at the run to the sun forum it looks like it will be £27 to get into the campsite for the day which is a bit steep so not sure if we'll do that although the entertainment doesn't look that good really. although i did like the idea of a 70s night and getting dressed up. :)
i've never been to newquay in my life so is it easy to find somewhere to go?
can anyone recommend anywhere that we can go during the day/evening?

ta very muchly!! ;)

As far as the show and shine on sunday goes it is usually £5 per vehicle. It is in a car park at the top of town so no need to go into the chav ridden main site. Also means you can walk into town on the sunday without paying more parking.

There is normally a cruise from reading M4 services on the friday which leaves at 9.30am. It does cruise at 55mph though. Lunch at Taunton services about 12.30pm.

We will be in our campervan and black sheep in their NB and also another friend in a NB. We are cruising down and staying at Hendra.

If you are joining the cruise or staying at hendra come say hello!

The police have cracked down on water pistols but there are still plenty about.

The problem is the few who spoil it for the most.

ie
Gravel in water bombs or paint stripper in water guns

People who squirt you just because your window is open are annoying, if it is a mutual water fight where both sides have a gun then fair enough.

I had one guy who pulled up next to me and he had turned his windscreen washer so it squirted sideways, I couldn't close my window because the roll cage got in the way of the window winder. I see the funny side now but at the time with water stains everywhere inside my baja i was pissed off, also if i had a pistol i couldn't have got him back as he was hiding in his car with all windows firmly closed.

Assssssss Hoooooooooooole.

witchywoo
