Yes please, also i'll need one of those induction kits put in. Do you put them in ? There the foam things which replace the air filter right ? And also anything else you might suggest that would go well with my blugg. Limited to £600 though. Would you fit a cardene spoiler for me too ? Sort of know where you are as when i met markymark he said you weren't too far from him. Maybe i need to buy the induction filter thing kit first. If this needs to be done let me know.
Sorry for throwing all this at you but i'd like to get Blugg up to a good standard.

With an induction kit you won't see massive gains but it will look better if you're having a Cone type etc. It will sound a little sportier too! Not sure if anyone does an exhaust for the 1.6 which would also help looks and a little performance, I've looked at Milltek and Jetex and neither do an out of the box exhaust for yours, you might be able to do a powerflow though as they make them on the car!

[ch23456][ch29289][ch23621][ch23478]]What about exhausts, they add horse power i've heard ??
They do but frequently people claim they add more than they do! What you need to remember is airflow through the engine (easier in/easier out) is always a good thing(well nearly and we'd be going into harmonics at that point) you will see an increase in throttle response, vocal quality(so it sounds faster therfore it must be faster) as well as a performance benefit. I'd recommend doing it purely on having it sound sexier, but yes there is the performance gain although not as much a benefit as the remap by a fair way.
MrsEvvo
25th March 2007, 09:47
u could think of it like the old tunes slogan "helps you breathe more easily".....the more air u can get into the bugs engine because its more cramped than a nuns wotsit ;D the better. Cold air induction kits are great for that as is the V5 sport front wheel arch liner all these will assist with a good quality remap :)
John@DNA
25th March 2007, 15:42
What's the difference with the V5 wheel liner?
On the 1.8T the S3/TT it is vented.
On a 1.8T any improvement on airflow over the intercooler is also VERY desireable!
MrsEvvo
25th March 2007, 19:34
the 1.8T bugs arent vented like the TT/S3 so its an aftermarket mod to do yourself....what do you mean as in whats the different? im a girl talk to me like im 5 years old please ;)

Go pipercross then! I've not seen the routing of the cold air feed on these which is key, also is it a sound difference as in induction noise? As this is frequently mistaken for more performance...
MrsEvvo
27th March 2007, 20:29
ive got a pipercross viper on mine and the cold air feed is way down in the front of the bumper hoovering lots of lovely cold air to keep Jack happy. They make good kits - when we had the Type R we went down to their workshop and they fitted the Viper to it in the same set up as they do for their race cars. You dont notice a huge noise difference on the bugs cos unlike the Type-Rs they rev point is quite low but you do notice a performance and fuel difference :)
John@DNA
27th March 2007, 23:46
I'd dealt with them a few years ago and gave up when they kept sending the wrong size connectors on a simple car, seems they're good now which is good!

I want it to be see when i lift the bonnet and to howl like a banshee, ok maybe not too boy racer loud. But it would be nice if it was visible for shows as lets face it, performance wise it's not going to do a lot on my Blugg :'(
MrsEvvo
28th March 2007, 08:17
Blugg it will be seen when u lift the bonnet the piper is one of the nicest looking kits all black carbon fibre and you can choose the colour of the intake cone - look at the picture of mine on my bug post in shows us your bugs etc
If its a proper cold air feed kit you have to take the pipes down into the front of the bumper so they are where the fog lights are otherwise you're just gonna hoover up warm air and rubbish which wont make a blind bit of difference
As for the sound you do know its on as do others when u rev your engine but you wont get a howl cos the revs are too low in the bugs
John@DNA
28th March 2007, 11:27

the standard cold air feed from VW will probably do for that kit, John may think differently but i think that sort of filter doesnt need oodles of cold air like a viper does, just enough to keep fresh air flow.

I need to have a closer look at the air feed to pass judgement, I do believe however that it can only be beneficial if the feed to it does actually offer a cold feed, preferably with positive pressure, so we need to look properly at this.

i took all mine out john when fitting viper, its not tooooo bad, but far from great eother if you see what i mean! ;D It is a little restrictive, and has a few harsh kinks in it as it comes up through the wheel arch then behind the headlight. it would b a lot better if some louvres were cut into the plastics wheel arch lining to allow more air to sweep into air inlet tube. Have a look and see what you reckon John!

You gotta be careful with air feeds, direct from the wheel liner can get awkward if you drive through heavy standing water etc, will find a solution though I'm sure, in fact have an idea! Need a beetle to look at quick sometime though first, where's Amy when you need her! :P
