Just thought i'd add a bit of feedback for John, went today to get Barney done and i'm soooo pleased the best few quid i've spent on him yet! the drive is soo much smoother through the gears and the acceleration is far better now! had a lovely walk into town (although i would reccomend wearing suitable clothes ie. jeans and comfy shoes!) and John picked me up in town for a test drive, came back to a much faster cleaner car ;), V.impressed so cheers muchly John you're an ickle star :)

hi :) I'm in Stratford-upon-Avon, done a fair few 2.0 you'll see around 12-14bhp on this engine, the most gain is on the improvement in smoothness and throttle response, you'll not get the power gains you see on the turbo variants but you will see an improvement that you'll like from my experience.

Not been out so much lately! Combination of pining for my better half while she's away and having too many emails to do, and technology is supposed to be a good thing?! lol
Should be out Friday for a couple if you're about?

Sounds good. How many stages can i goto and how much are each stage.
I take it you have to goto stage 1 before going to stage 2,3,4,5 etc
Sorry for all the questions but i like to cover all the bases :)

Stage 1 is just a remap to optimise for a car that is standard or has minor alterations such as an air filter or exhaust. There is no industry standard on stages so other classification per tuner varies widely! but usually involves camshafts, head work, bigger turbos etc

OK cool, so i giove you the money and you do the stage 1 then i think i ask you for what to do next and you let me know and i return and we contuinue that way ok. Now i just need the cash so will contact you within the next few weeks.
Do i have to pay cash or do you take cards ?
(Can i pay you before job done as i have a habbit of burning a hole in my pocket)
How much time do i have to leave to book it in for next day ?
Will it be something i can hang around with and take Blugg home that day ?

I've seen too many issues with card problems working with other companies and the bank charges etc are also annoying, with my dealers oversea's they all pay me by bank transfer which is a large part of what I do, mainly Asia, otherwise cash or cheque from trusted folk! :) Could do CC with worldpay or similar I guess?
With time it depends if I'm writing a new map from scratch or not, if I know the ECU number I can give an approx time, otherwise between 1 and 5 hours, if it's a custom job then I allow the day on some jobs, big turbo upgrades (GT28RS on a 1.8T) needs longer!
Keep in touch and we can arrange a time to suit you, I work weekends if need be and evenings, well that's obvious as I'm sat here typing now! :)

Blugg when you're back on here which will be soon we all hope! Your ECU is found like this;

Or if you've got VAG-COM log into the Engine Control Module and all will be revealed.

I think there's a knack to it maybe, once you've done a few it's alot easier so maybe my view is slightly biased!

I think it depends on if it's come out before too. Robbie's slides out really easily but I've taken it off myself about 5 times, and it's probably been done before. Same with his radio too - people say they're very difficult to get out sometimes - I put the keys in Robbie's and it practically falls out ;D

Just come back from Stratford from my 2nd Jolly over to the DNA workshop! My brothers Golf GTI was getting Johns magic touch today, He was well happy with the results and giggled like a girl all the way home every time he accelerated a huge Grin appeared on his miserable little face, (he had tonsilitus and wasn't happy about me dragging him round the shops) :D
so Cheers John [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Glad as always to have another happy customer :)
That reminds me I'll email him that list of missing bits on his! You reckon he'll go for a bigger turbo at some stage then? I think the brake upgrade should be a priority first though :)
I was surprised that after the rebuild all those fault codes weren't cleared by the previous owner, all cleared and service light reset at no charge as usual.
