Hiya, just joined this place after Bug78 recommended it to me and thought i would say hello to everyone *;)

My names Kirsty and i'm from Nottinghamshire. I'm hoping to be getting at some point in the next year (as cars due for renewal) a new black Beetle Cabriolet probably a 1.6 or if i find one and its at the right price a 1.9 TDI and thought i would join this place to get some inspiration for when i get her *[smiley=laugh.gif]

My partner Adam and I are already aircooled enthusiasts and own a 1966 bug called Edna that we take to the shows. She is off the road at the moment as early next year she is having a respray and new interior fitted as she is looking a little tired round the edges after 40 years of wear and tear.

Here is a pic of her at the Crich beetle Drive.....

Anyway look forward to seeing everyone around the forums *:)

Thanks both of you *:)

We are indeed staying with the red, we love the colour but it just needs refreshing as whoever resprayed her in the past didn't do the worlds best job *::)

I went to my first primary school in Grantham! It was called Heathlands then but I think it's called something else now?

Erm... let me think... ok, go past where Halfords etc is towards the A1, before you get to the car dealers you turn right towards Barrowby. It's just down there.

I don't disagree with you there! We avoid Melton if we can help it - hence why we went to school in Grantham, Oakham and Stamford ;D just go into Melton to go to Tescos really.

I live the bit in Croxton when you go over the bumps - weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :D ;D the hill on the other side isn't so good for an old Bug tho lol

20th December 2006, 22:13
Its a small world! The bumps are cool you have to speed up for them or it aint no fun. dont you get a free car wash in croxton from that water thing thats always running next to the road. :D Have you ever been to the Vw club in Grantham "volksair" ?

Shamrockez
20th December 2006, 22:27
been to - I started VolksAir along with Dave - does he still go?

I think they've put a bollard infront of the water thing now, haven't they? My Mum used to wash her car under it on the way back from school lol

Little Dave with the mad hair ;D I've not been for years - mainly cos I now live in Bristol. The club did start off as a Melton based one but sorta got taken over by the Grantham lot and ended up in Harlaxton.

Yeah I saw him at Action and it was huge! :o

Clubs tend to do that - there's a surge of interest, then there's not much for a while, then it comes back again. Same is happening with the 2nd club I started in Taunton. It'll pick up again tho, they always do.

Seen you all talking about Melton Mowbray in this thread. ;D I was born in Melton. Moved away for a while but back now. Soon to move to Syston area though. Anyway I thought I'd mention a VW club i started in May last year for Melton and the surrounding areas. It's called MADVW. :) It stands for Melton and District VW Club. We welcome all VW's. We meet every first Monday of each month at The Red House in Nether Broughton from 6pm. It would be good to see some of you there should you be interested and have the time. ;)

I've flyered many new beetles about the MADVW club but have had none take interest yet. Melton people can be a little funny though! lol :P

The website is www.madvw.co.uk

I also run a east midlands club:
www.olds-cool-veedubbers.co.uk
They have monthly meetings in adhoc locations.
