Live just outside stratford and being speaking to another member off here who has a bug and oak green mk2 - mark ;)
Myself I have an oak green mk2 which I have put an audi TT 225bhp engine into and currently trying to finish it off...
Here she was before conversion started...

A mk2 running a 225bhp engine with larger port inlet and sprinter van intercooler in a car weighin 960kg should do me for now ;)
Not that the modifying bug ever stops though ::)

how easy/hard was the engine conversion out of interest? any idea on what figures its running now?

Putting the engine and gearbox in was fairly easy - its using the standard mounts from my 1989 mk2 golf; only changed needed was take take some out of the rear mount for the oil return pipe to fit under.
Even things like the power steering pump from the TT are exactly identical to the power steering pump on a 1989 golf!
The hardest bit for me is now mating the TT looms with those of my Golf - as obviously electronics have changed a little since 89 ;D
In terms of power, with bigger intercooler than the TT and with a large ported AGU head I should be seeing about a max of 235-240bhp, maybe less - will be getting it on a Rolling roaded as soon as its finished.
... which should be even sooner as john @ dna will be decoding the ecu today for me :)

With an intercooler a common misconception is to gain power, what actually happens is you maintain power, as with heatsoak over a period of time with a smaller intercooler you can lose power through high intake tmeps and the ECU backing off the power to compensate. Should be around 270bhp when we finish it ;)
Additionally if needed with the map switching I could add into the ECU so that you do map switching via a hard wired switch so you wouldn't need to necessarily have an OBD port to switch software.

That is exactly what I could do with; be able to switch between full power and sensible power for really wet weather/ ice etc...... and 270bhp should do me ;)
How hard would a hard wired switch be to do?
Be bringing my ecu round tonight John - will ring you later

Well there is the option where basically all you need to do is run two wires from the ECU to a switch, as simple as that, I do the rest inside the ECU :)

You could either have something VW and discreet, or a big red button under a flip cover for maximum effect :D
