Changing Gear Knob - 05 cab

Any ideas? I seem to be missing something when trying to remove the old VW fitted one. Dont want to do any real damage so any tips or ideas would be great.

Right - managed to get the vw knob off at last but it pairs especially with the gaitor or the bit that keeps the leather bit close or attached to the knob. The new one does not have the same fitting, any ingenous ideas how to keep the leather bit up and to stop it from dropping away? I guess a clip or tie of some sort? anyone done this already?..

Zip tie should work.

I just folded the top over mine tho.
