Lowering my bug

I am wanting to lower my bug around 30mm, i was only going to change the springs, however i've heard that this will effect the handeling! *Has anyone on here lowered their car on springs alone? and how do you find it handles?

any help and advice would be very greatfully recieved! many thanks in advance.

mine is lowered on just springs - got 30/35mm drop on Eibach Pro Kit springs - cost about £125 from AwesomeGTI - handles like its got claws now - some people like to change the shocks too but for now i am more than happy :)
