What options do I have? I want some better seats in the front - something a little sportier... I miss my FTO for that...
Plus, what's the sort of cost to make them all match (i.e. the back seats etc).
Cheers 8-)

go to MJ INTERIORS in shipley west yorks (they collect and deliver) they do a top job alot of the golf show cars that you see have mj trims 8-) cost £1600 for 2x recaro's ,and rest trimmed in leather and alacantara (thats what i was told) dont think thats a bad price for a top job :-/

Bit expensive for me. I want to add a bit more comfort and coolness - but it won't add value to the car long term so I can't justify that kind of money..... Bugger..... :'(

What about air-bags and such? And how much for a reasonable set of seats would you say (used as above etc..)????

airbags........disconnect battery for 10mins, the under the seats, unclip the wires :)
my recaro seat was plug and play, as smoothie says, disconnect the battery for 1o mins or so and then take your old seat out and disconnect airbag cable and then put new seat in
my seat was about £850 new, still got the original recaro receipt somewhere, i just got lucky on e-bay!
i would say you best bet would be to buy a mkiv golf 3 door recaro interior, should cost about 350-450, then sell the rear seat because it won't fit to get some money back
it will be a straight fit, the only slight issue will be the airbag connectors, vws before late 2000 had different connector plugs to newer vws so try and get seats for the same age of your car (i.e. 2000 or before or 2001 plus), but if not putting new plugs on the airbag wire on the seat is not a big job :)

or these recaros, again right colour, get the fitting kit from recaro and as part of the kit you can get a little adaptor that plugs into the end of your airbag cables iiunder your seats to stop the airbag warning light coming on

be a good choice of seats as they are the same as the sport seat option that you can get on newer bugs

golf mkiv will fit straight in, will take all of 10 mins per seat, what year is your bug? if it is earlier than a y reg it will almost definately have the early type airbag connectors, diiferent from the y reg ish and later new type connectors. but its not a big job to change connectors over
