I'm finally looking to start the project on my bug... :D
Can anybody advise on the costs of a full re-spray?
Or any places that are know to be good
All advice would be greatly appreciated

My bug had a pukka job, quoted at £2800, paid £2500 cash, done by a Porsche/Merc specialist, but that was for a respray the same colour, and didn't include the door jambs or anything inside, purely an external respray. A full colour changes is around £4k maybe more depending how far you wanna go, and the kind of paint you wanna use.

you can save some money etc by stipping and rebuilding the car yourself this is what me and my friends have done before on our cars
as you save the body shop time which saves you cash

Hi Luke,
Just out of interest, why was Gertie resprayed?

Because i'm a very anal person and wanted her perfect, I was actually gonna get her painted purple but didn't have enough money ;D, I was intending to build a showinning car and the paint is always the first thing they look at and I had a full votex bodykit to go on so decided to ensure a perfect colour match i'd have the whole car done, but halfway through it turned out the votex bumpers were duff but as they'd started I decided to let them finish. * I have pics of her before during and and after, and it was done by a VW/Merc/Porsche specialist called Brin Jones. *In fact the paintwork is still guaranteed until January.

Hi Luke, struggling to PM you at the moment,
Pleased to see that you've resolved the dispute with the dealer re your new Bug :) It looks fabulous from the pics.
Have you had any luck finding the Receipt from the Bodyshop and the pics yet?
PS Good Luck with the collection on Saturday!

I've looked everywhere and I can't find the receipt, have you checked through all the paperwork I gave you? Just ring Brin Jones they can tell you all about it, tell them it was a bright green bug they resprayed in late 04, and mention my name, they know me. I think they gave a 2 year guarantee on the paint, check with them they'll know.
