looking at getting a TDi Pissrat for daily / work use etc. Anyone got one / had one?

What they like? Any known issues?

Is the 130bhp the one to go for or is the 100bhp ok?

Is it worth paying more for the SE instead of the S?

:)

Not had a passat but I had a 110 Leon - much faster than Robbie so I'd say go for the 130. The Leon was also SE spec which was much better than the S for the Leons.

had a test drive in a 130 SE today and was impressed with it.

Same engines as bugs/golf but the passat has a totally different feel. I have driven a few now, and put a lot of miles on a 130 in 2 days for work and got out of it feeling as good as I did when I got in. Very comfortable, nice ride, great m'way cruiser basically.

Engine wise, 100 is fine, but 130 has the 6 speed box and more grunt, depends what you want it for really. If I was sat on the motorway all day and trying to keep my license I'd have the 100, if I was driving on A-roads across country and needed to do a lot of overtaking I'd definately have the 130 - it's the engine (and gearbox) my newbeetle desperately needs :(

Oh if you are buying yourself second hand then get a saloon, the estates hold their value very well, the saloons not so. If you can live without the extra space then you have a second hand bargain - same can be said for the Bora.

Curve ball at you though, the Skoda Octavia is a cheaper and slightly 'different' alternative, or really go for space and get the 'Supurb' crap name, good car, pushing S'Class style space in side and no more ££ 2nd hand than the passat.

The Tdi 130 SE is a gorgeous car to drive, my dads had 2 so far and will probably be having another very soon. I don't think he has had any major problems with either car so far, only a problem with the electronic boot release which isn't anything major really ;)
