We HAD Hankook 215/35s on 8.5 BBS CHs on the front of the TT, they offered absolutely no protection at all to the rim so we swapped them up to 225s. Still not perfect but better to live with in the real world. The 215s were too low and the sidewall wasn't stiff enough to cope under hard driving, I didn't want the tyre rolling under cornering.
Continental do good tyres with rim protectors by the way.

I had BBS 18x9j on 215/35/18s on my Beetle White Cab and then 9.5x19 on 215/35/19s on the TT and the stretch is awesome, got somepics of the 18s on the beetle about
