Well like many others on here I went up to Alcester today to have the V5 remapped, arrived a bit earlier than planned, but was offered a lift into Stratford so me and the wife could spend some money (why oh why did Debenhams have a 20% off weekend!!!) and the process was explained to me by Chris, he rang me a couple of hours later, picked us up told us what they had done etc etc gave me the keys and we were on our way!

Wasnt really too sure what to expect having never had a car mapped previously, but the initial difference was noticeable, pulling away from Johns place it was instant throttle reaction and as I made my way back to Devon I was able to put it through its paces, and previously if you floored it, it would pick up, get to about 4000 revs and all of a sudden it woudl kick you in the back and go like a rocket very similar to a turbo, but now that pulling power is there from the off, and it gives a great constant delivery of power from initial pulling away right the way through to the red line.

I noticed on my way up last night keeping a constant 70mph speed the car was sitting at just under 4000 revs all the way up, on the return this afternoon, that has dropped down to just over 3000 revs due to the additional power being released for less throttle, on the way up, I filled it up to the brim, and covered the 200 miles using just over 1/2 a tank of fuel, I filled up leaving Alcester and after the same 200 mile journey, the car is sitting between 1/2 and 3/4 so a noticeable difference in fuel usage, will fill it up later in the week again and will get an accurate MPG reading to compare before and after remap on the same journey types etc to confirm that the fuel economy has already improved, if that is teh case then the outlay of teh map wil hopefully be recouped over the coming months.

Overall, very pleased so far, the car does feel totally different, improved torque, throttle response is now instant, power delivery is smooth and constant throughout the rev range and hopefully the mog has improved.

Anyone else on here who has a V5 and is considering having it done, dont delay its the best £200 you can spend on your car and allow John to unleash the potential of your excellent engine!

Well chuffed and have a rather large smile on my face now!!!

Thanks for working the magic on the car, and hopefully will be back in the future with any other cars that I might have! :D :D :D

And also if you read this John, can you pass on my thanks to Chris, he seems like a really nice bloke, he also seems to enjoy his job and that came across in the way that he dealt with us!

Just one question though, it seems to me that the town and surrounding area of Stratford seems to have loads and loads of Beetles, including I noted the yellow TDI that is for sale on here currently reg started BT53 and down here we have only ever seen one other V5SE and that was silver, yes we managed to see another V5SE in black identical to ours in Stratford as well!!

Sorry for the waffle, but am one happy bunny at the moment!!! Car is off for a couple of body repairs and some paint next week then I think that will do for the moment spend wise on the car!!!

Once again, many thanks, James.

are you sure ?
I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that's not possible without changing the gearing in some way.

I see what you are saying and to a certain extent I agree, but what I am saying is that because there feels like there is more power available from the engine you dont use the throttle as far down to maintain the speed that you want, hence the lower revs hence the less use of petrol? Am I making sense? I know what I mean?

It's probably because you're driving in a higher gear without realising it :)

yes could well be, know what i did notice was the extra torque in the gears and staying 5th longer before changing down to 4th etc etc so that would be about right, overall I know it has made a big difference and am over the moon with it! It likes having a new car all over again! :-)

sort of, it should be something like...
more/different power = less throttle = different engine/exhaust note but same rpm/mph

Certainly a mega big recommendation for DNA Tuning:)

Excellent, well done, glad you are happy, we are still happy with ours, still brings a smile to our faces, even bigger than before it was mapped, just pleased that some of my views etc helped you, and now you can go and enjoy it even more now :D :D
