Set some of your alarm and lock functions......

Okay, first of all i'm using a fully registered version of 311.2-N, so everything in this little how-to is done using that software. I've no reason to think that later (or even earlier versions) will be that much different to this though.

Okay here goes (my first time at a how-to  )

Plug in your vag-com to your laptop and start your car, the vag-com won't work without your car switched on.

Open up your vag-com program so you have the main screen....

Click on select control module....

You should now have a screen with lots of different modules to select, you need no.46 or cent.conv, click on that...

You should now see a screen which looks like this, the codes will be different at the top as they're unique to every car but you get the idea....

In the bottom right you should see a button that says adaptation, click on that....

When you've done that you should get a new little window that looks like this.....

Right, time to start adjusting things. Where the mouse is resting in the above pic is over the channel number up "button". This is where you get to select what you want to adjust. Press up three times and you should see this.....

Now this is the auto lock settings. When your car gets over 10mph it will automatically lock the doors. If you want to switch this on then look at where it says new value and you'll see next to it that it says 0. If you press up on this it will change to a 1 and the box above now says "on".....

Click "save" and that's now set. To turn it off just switch the value back to "0" and hit "save" again.....

Next "channel" up is "auto unlock". This automatically opens the locks when you remove the key from the ignition, so the same procedure above to turn on....

The next few "channels" are all to do with the alarm, the first of which is the interior monitor......

If you turn this off the sensors inside the car will be switched off, handy if you have a lot of "danglies" around the place or live in a really windy area.

After that the next 4 are self-explanatory....

"Blink" is indicators....

The last one is how the horn will sound when it's activated (i think), not a clue how to test it, it's set as uk as standard.....

And that's it, fairly simple. If you've adjusted loads but can't remember what don't panic you can reset back to factory if you want. Just flick the channel back down to "channel 00" and it should say "reset back to factory" or something similar. Save that and it will all the alarm and lock functions will be as you car was when new.

All the other modules at the select screen work in the same way with the adaptation button, you can adjust in the "engine" module the idle speed for example.

Hope this helps. :)
