Hi Jenni

Good on you, the first step is wanting it and admitting what you really want. I went for years wanting to lose weight; but then one day a switch took place in my mind and I just knew it was the time to try properly. From that day I quit ready meals, watched portions, only ate fresh home made healthy meals with very low fat and sugar. I also took up jogging (well walk/jog/weezing intervals to start) but after perseverance and effort (and will power) stuck with it for nearly a year and lost 5 stone (30Kg's). I went from clinically obesse to normal weight for my height. Running was the best thing I ever did; and I've seen plenty of peeps out jogging with push chairs too! Maybe give it a try. Good luck with it - let us know how you get on. You know if you can find a running partner it can be a great social activity as you should still be able to chat while running (otherwise you'll be running too quick if you can't string a short sentance together). I really hope it goes well for you.

Kind regards

Yumma

Well you can start by taking out your back seats and getting alloys, or even perspex windows. if you really want to lose a lot then go for a carbon bonnet.

Lol just kidding. Im sure you look absolutely fine the way you are.

Nah, forget exercise, go for lots rides in your car,and join Slimming World, worked wonders for me and Hubbie! Have lost nearly 2 and a half stone each since June, and I HATE exercise!!! In fact I've lost the weight with zero exercise, and plan to lose plenty more in exactly the same way! Slimming World v important in all this though.....

I'm guessing since the poster only ever posted this post and hasn't been back on the forum since, she's probably either not real, or forgetful....

Slimming World and breast feeding worked for my wifes mate... shes 27 or 28 and now lost 4 1/2 stone since starting when her baby was born. The kid is 1 year old now. I never realised how many calories breast feeding burns. (Makes me want to be a girl and stick my boob in someones mouth!)

Hello Jennifer. If you really want to lose weight, here are a couple of quick tips I tell my patients. Keep in mind, being too skinny is not healthy either.

1. Ultimately it comes to intake and output. If you want to lose wieght you MUST use more calories than you take in or eat.

2. Building MUSCLE is the easiest way to lose weight. Muscles need calories just to exist, so if you start lifting some light weights, you will start losing pounds and inches when you sleep. . . SUCH A DEAL!

3. Water has NO calories....so drink it instead of soda pop, juice, milk, etc. People ask how much water is enough. The currrent amount is half your weight in ounces of water per day.

*In other words, if you weigh 100 pounds (I'm not sure of the metric conversion), then you need to drink 50 ounces of water per day.

**For the record, I don't even do this...but if you get close, you're doing pretty good.

4. When you go for a walk, bring along a soup can for each hand. use them as barbells when you walk. You'll be surprised how much those soup cans will do for you and how sore your arms will get after the first time.

5. When you eat, make sure you DO NOT eat meats and proteins with carbohydrates and sugars. The reason is simple chemistry.

In order to break down proteins, you need a more acidic setting. Your stomach uses HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) to do this. Conversely, carbohydrates are hard for your stomach to break down. When you eat them, they need a more alkaline environment. Your stomach uses NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) to break down carbs. Now when you put these two chemicals together you get this reaction:

[H]+ [Cl]- + [Na]+ [Cl]- ----> H2O (water) + NaCl (table salt)

Therefore, you CANNOT break down your foods properly and digestion has to happen in the colon. Having proteins for breakfast (eggs and bacon) followed by carbs (some sort of veggie sandwich and fries) for lunch will work.

However, you have to adhere to Rule #1 at all times. Everything in moderation.

6. Colors are good. The more colors you eat (as long as it's not full of artificial dyes and processed food) the better.

7. If you want to be more alive than dead, eat food which is more alive than dead. In other words, the more packaging, plastic, processing and junk you have, the more dead it is.

Lastly, don't expect all the weight will come off in one fall swoop. There will be times when your body will have to catch up with the weight loss. This is called squatting. Before jumping to the next level, YOU WILL HAVE TO SQUAT. Otherwise, you cannot and WILL NOT get to that next level. This is a natural law which nobody is exempt from. So, when you get to the point where you aren't losing the weight, but doing 2X the work, this is most likely what is going on.

However, your body should stay somewhat even. You aren't going to lose fat on one side and not the other. If this happens, see a specialist.
