Hi John, Have read an excellent recommendation for DNA remapping of V5; shall be saving my pennies for the New Year. In the meantime, please could you tell me the exact name of the variable "thingy" in the inlet manifold that causes pinking on partial throttle between 1800 and 2200 revs? Nefarious pointed this out but garage where I bought car (1 month warranty remaining) want specifics; not a VW place. Cheers, Paul.

It's the variable geometry intake, are you sure your current problem is caused by this though, as frequently issues on these are MAF, water temp sensor, cam or ignition related. Any engine fault codes?

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. Nefarious (Simon) had exactly the same problem and apparently VW issued a tech bulletin stating it was caused by the VGI and to replace the part under warranty; took a couple of dealers to sort it for him though. Car drives perfectly otherwise. Regards, Paul. ps what is the cost of a remap with you?

On the 150 and the 170 bhp on a healthy car you'll see +18-20bhp, V5 owners love it!

Woody, have you experienced the issue I have got that may be down to this variable geometry intake thingy?
