To set up your e-mails tap on settings, scroll down to mail contacts calenders and tap it, and then tap on add account.
There are a couple of ringtone makers, just google 'iPhone ringtone maker', that's how we found the one that we use (can't remember the name sorry)
Hope it helps :)

In the settings you can turn on "fetch new data" to push and that will check the servers every few mins... try that and see if it works :/

I work for apple. Its probably because you dont have the O2 server info in there and the O2 smtp server turned on.
Go into your account and add another smtp server smtp.o2.co.uk leaving the username and password blank. It will say something about using SSL - just click yes. See if it works then.

You need to set up a yahoo account ? I did that but dont use my yahoo mail. Then i purchased mbox mail from the appliance store so i can use hotmail through it only thing is its not push.
As for ring tones you can do it through itunes you need to first cut them down to 30 seconds then edit the file extension.Ill post you a link if you dont know.
Iphones the best thing ive ever had , well almost oooh ;)

the iphone is a great phone but it wont let you do basic things that every other phone has be letting you do for years
send picture messages
forward business cards
2 things they need to get sorted
i know you can send pictures via email but thats not good enough if you ask me

No dude there is a mms program in free utilities in the appliance store free to receieve 35p to send and get credit via paypal works a treat.

I didn't realise it couldn't do MMS, or if it can you have to pay?!?!? I was debating getting one but I dont think I'll bother until maybe the third one comes out.

What if you get free picture messages as part of your contract?! Can it not send receive them unless you get that piece of software and pay?

It does do mms it's a apple approved third party software, free to install . If someone sends you a message cost nothing only to send. Ok mms is usally 20p and it's 35p But yes yes yes now has mms.
I'll sitting in Wolverhampton as we speak sending this on my iphone !!

They did say it will never do mms as it's a buiness phone and you should be emailing stuff across. I've had mine for about six months now and it's the only thing I can use to get on this site at work so it's good for me :)

I've had mine for a few weeks now and I'm so impressed with it. I can't ever see myself going back to a 'normal' phone now!
I downloaded the mms application after albion said about it and it works great. I don't have mms included in my package, and rarely send any, so getting credit for them though paypal doesn't bother me.
Even Steve who's never had an Apple product before - never been interested in getting an iPod etc, absolutely loves his. He uses his more than me! There's tonnes of games you can get for them too, if you like that sort of thing.
Just wish the battery life was a little longer, but it charges from my laptop or if I'm in the car I can plug it into that, so not that much of an issue.

Hmmm... An mms app? I'll have to take a look at that one! Usually just log into the web address O2 send me when someone sends me a picture... I love my I-phone, had one since they first came out and upgraded to the newest one as soon as possible. It actually saves me money each month cos before I had to buy bolt-on packages for internet use. The only 'problem' I have is that it's slow to do stuff sometimes.
Jimmy T
17th February 2009, 17:21
It doesnt do MMS because if you havent noticed. ALL the new phones are the same sort. With free web browsing.
If you have free web browsing, why would you pay to send an MMS when you can email it to the guy next to you for free?
The phone has set the benchmark for phones to come. Soon everyone will be saying "No free unlimited web browsing" psssh thats a joke. MMS will be as redundant as polyphonic ringtones.

well i have 4 people in my family and the package on O2 for the i-phone is £45 per month if my memory serves me right so that would cost me near £200 per month on mobile phones yeah right
with MMS you only pay for what you need so 1 or 2 MMS per month is a lot cheaper than £45 per month
a phone is a phone do you really need it for anything else apart from text calls and the odd MMS
Do i need to surf the net on the go no not really
i use my N96 to stream music to my car watch the odd movie make calls text and MMS thats it i surf the net at home no need for it on the move

my work gave me a dam iphone yesterday I'm not happy :(
right now i have one i have done some more research
a few things i have found it cant do and are their ways around them
no sat nav voice directions directions
you cant stream music to the car via bluetooth
both the 2 features i use most on a phone
is their anyway around the getting music to the car ? can you connect the phone directly to a USB on the car stereo ?
I'm not to worried about the other things the iphone is lacking as i called apple today and they told me their is a software upgrade due in June
which will have
voice directions for the sat nav
picture messages
it also states that you will be able to stream music but they cant confirm if thats via bluetooth
there are also another few thing that will be added not mentioned yet
just need to get music from the phone to the head unit any ideas ?

Email, basically any pop3 account will work, the setup is the same as setting up outlook, in fact if you use outloook or outlook express it will port the settings to the phone for you on sync.
As to ring tones, you can use on a Mac Garage Band which will create or allow you to cut up MP3s and save them in the correct format, but you can create them directly from Itunes and rename the file type, basically import as Acc format, Open file in browser and rename as a .mpr in fact heres a video to help you:

The lass you got through to was called Kirsty and she works on my team. She put you on hold and cam to ask me what to say.
Basically until the new software is out in the summer the iphone is limited. Once its released the developers can work on 3rd party apps to put on the app store which im sure will enhance functionality.
Until then... nothing matey

i rang 02 to upgrade for friday from my current iphone 3G 16gb, and the guy told me there's basically no point as the main change is the video recording and editing and the extra capacity, and i can live with 16gb so im sticking to my 'normal' iphone 3G and roll on the software 3.0!

I've been lucky to have a play with one of the new Iphones and omg it's like they say it's almost 2x quicker with apps. lunching lets say ebay and signing in is now instant but on the older one it takes a good 10-20 secs. bad news is to change to the new one and break contract it will cost me £300 to break the contract 6 months early then another £270 to get the 32gb phone lol...
