Update on Harry

[1958 Harry]

Harrys not been out to play for a long while now, a combination of Gem getting her aircooled and a problem with an airleak on his engine means he's been sat in the garage.

Anyway he's getting a cool pressie this weekend, a genuine 1958 1200 engine, he has a much later 1200 fitted at present, which altho OK, in Concourse lets him down A LOT as its totally wrong for his year! Accordeing to 'The Samba' the engine is only a month later than Harry was made so is almost month correct for him!

Just need to source the correct exhaust for it, get a new choke cable, paint the tinware and fit the engine, and he'll be almost 100% original, the only thing that isn't totally correct is his carpets, as he wouldn't have been carpeted throughout originally, but I can live with that :laughing:

Have you much to do to it before you put it in? Do you strip it down and put it back together or is it already done? :)

It needs an exhaust, and I think its missing the correct airfilter, I'll probably just check it doesn't leak any oil, sort any leaks, paint the tinware up, then just fit it :D Means Harry will be Uber slow now :lol:

Also need to buy a new choke cable for Harry (his engine has an auto choke currently so his cable was cut by a previous owner).

Its sad but I'm really excited at getting this, its the final piece in the puzzle of getting him back to nice and original! :D

Feeling excited about getting this (how sad am I!!!) it will finally mean Harrys pretty much back to original :D
