I`ve had a rotary polisher sat in my garage for the last 12 months in amongst a pile of tools I`m looking after for a friend after his garage went bump - anyhow, should I bite the bullet and have a play with it or leave it in the box and stick with clay and polish ?

Has it got variable speed adjustment? Ideally for rotary work you'd want from 900 - 2000 rpm.
If it is an option to give it a crack, do be careful! Unlike Random Orbitals rotaries build up heat VERY quickly and you can damage the paint easily if you don't concentrate 100%
The results you get from a rotary though can be awesome! :).
Cheers.

I`ll have to check later, it`s wazzing it down outside and I`m inside in the warm watching the F1
Should I use the paint cleaner first with the polisher or just wax ?

To be honest you'd rarely use a rotary to apply a wax or sealant... Not to say you can't but it's often quicker by hand.. Although you will potentially get a thinner, more even coat applied by machine.
You'd also want the slowest speed possible for applying last step products as they don't need working like a polish.
I'd personally use it for polishes and cleansers.
Cheers.

^ Second that - rotarys are like the big boys! Don't mess with them as they can really mess up your car.
