We decided it was about time to fit some safari windows to the front of the splitty  we fitted them in between showers

Started by taking out the screens that we fitted 2 weeks ago  the new windows are all polished and lovely :)

Offered the frames up, marked the holes and then drilled them.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008006.jpg

Screwed frame in to check for gap all round and fitted slides.

Then realised aerial was in the way so decided to remove it - that took longer than the whole fitting process as bolts hadn't been moved since 1964  - so we decided to take a break, as you do lol, whilst the WD40 took hold - it didn't work btw

Finally got aerial off and fitted the 2nd window then came inside to fit the glass into the frames - what a nightmare  such a tight fit - took ages for Mr to do!

Back outside and it didn't take long to fit the seals then put in the glazed frame and the catches.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008016.jpg

The other side went in just as easily.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008017.jpg

Ta Da! Seals in, frames screwed down, slides, latches and catches all fitted fine.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008018.jpg

Next we refitted the wipers and the holder for them to keep them out of the way when you have the windows open.
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008021.jpg

Woo Hoo! They work!
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008022.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f31/susi_doo/safari/12042008023.jpg

Ah. Bugger, forgot about the aerial :o so we had a dilemma over what to do because it would have been in the way if we just refitted it, until I looked at an old radio and suggested we use the bendy aerial off that - it worked!

And we've finished.... and they leak... but they're supposed to, right? It's the law

Next job - respraying the roof :D

Ooooh they look great Hun!!! :D :D :D

Stick some seam sealer around the seal which sits on the window frame (bus) - that's pretty much stopped Joey's leaking all together :D

We put none curing sealer around the bus frame and the leak is from the Safari frame and glass  so going to take them out and do the same to them too.

we really need to get the roof done now and also i think i need (no, i know i need!! :D) a rear safari now. oh did i say that out loud?? :D http://www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/images/vzismilies/hangloose.gif

We managed to sort out the worst part of the roof yesterday, Mr put on the first coat of primer and it chucked it down so had to do it again, then put 2nd coat of primer on when the sun came out and as soon as it was dry enough on went the paint - just in time because as soon as it had dried the heavens opened again! Looks good so far...

We have one creative seal in ours and one KK seal. Yesterday the creative seal leaked but the KK one didn't. If the KK one would stand up to heavier rain or not, I dunno...

Thank you its coming together now after 2 years!!!!!!!!
Im liking your bus to.
The signwriting and patina and colour are very cool:cool:and the chrome Radars are one of the best wheels around in my opinion I have them on my Karmann Ghia are you gonna keep that look? you gonna age the new paint on your roof?

OOOOOOOPS!!!! I didnt read your re-spray thread before I responded to this one as above I love the way it looks but I tend to lean towards well used and aged just like my self!!!!!!
