Shamrockez

Ah, ok, thanks :) Still not sure where we'll meet you, but hopefully at the services cos being newbies to this it would be nice to have company...but we normally work every sunday so the temptation for a lie in may just prove too great :D

Yeah once a year.
There is a high likelyhood of it being aircooled only next year tho - due to some knobs in Golfs messing it up for the rest of us  :(
yellowbug
14th April 2008, 08:33
Not that red one on g60 steels? he came steaming up past us on the way in
Surely they won't half the cars there were watercooled if you include all the t3's, t4's and t5's
Shamrockez
14th April 2008, 08:49
I'm not sure. I know someone had a hissy fit and they got a bit nasty - and when they were trying to film the news bit they were in the background heckling etc  very mature!
I'm hoping it will stay the same as this year as there was a nice turnout of T4s, Newbies and the odd T5 scattered about, as well as the watercooled T3s - none of which I'm aware caused any trouble... but on the website it stated which vehicles were allowed - anything aircooled as well as watercooled T3s, T4s, T5s and Newbies - no Golfs etc... but it seems some people didn't read it and/or decided to ignore it and got angry when they were turned away. So I think they want to stop the 'if you let that in, you've got to let us in - we're both watercooled' attidudes by banning all watercooled :(
I'm hoping not as it would be a real shame for the many watercooled who turned up well presented, on time, well behaved etc... for a few muppets to spoil it  :(

It's always the bloody Golf drivers!!! lol. I hear that some golf drivers caused problems at Stansted at the weekend too by setting the field on fire and kicking off when told to put it out?!
My wife drives a Golf..... I blame her! :p (she was nowhere near weston or stansted but still)
Shamrockez
14th April 2008, 09:28
It's just the irresponsible few which give the rest a bad name I think.
Doesn't sound good about the Stansted show either - no need to set fields on fire!
Funkmaster Red
14th April 2008, 09:29
It seems to me like although there is a decent element to Golf drivers, (i had one once), there is the boy racer element to their ranks and you just can't leave those ****ers unsupervised for 5 minutes! Punks! They must just get carried away, you can't set Tescos/Mc Donalds car parks on fire easily! ;)

Grandads drive mk4 golfs... I've never seen one in a newbee, have you? :D

Grandads drive mk4 golfs... I've never seen one in a newbee, have you?
lol, unfortunately, yes.... We flyered a guy yesterday who must have been retired for a fair few years.... I asked, him, "do you have internet access?".... :D My wife saw a new bee and we saw him park up, apparently it's his second..... He may not be a grandad tho..... Maybe he's a retired pimp? lol. Either way, he's a dub fan so if for some reason he does read this, i hope he don't take offence cos he was a nice guy.... Just goes to show you can't stereotype... lol. :D
On the other foot, my wife and her Dad both own mk4's but neither of them are near retirement.... Unfortunately the arguement is flawed.... Mind you in a month, my wifes dad will be a grandad so.....
Dub-Diva
14th April 2008, 11:15
Woohoo... That's the only "older" person I've heard of driving a newbee around so "big up dude" to him :) Most of the newbee drivers around here are late 20's to late 40's - I have converted most of them to "the wave" :D
Around here the Mk4 seems to the the best mode of transport for retired folk to make the weekly visit to our local tip with all their garden rubbish...
Stereotype? Moi? lol What makes me laugh is that most people put "boy racers" in Golf GTi's... what about us girlies? Some of us leave the boys still at the lights... hehehe

Be a loss for the event if they ban all watercooled cars
Dub-Diva
14th April 2008, 11:45
By the sound of it, it's a good job we didn't go in the golf
It's always a shame when one or two idiots ruin an event for the hundreds (sometimes thousands) of others that attend events :( makes me really annoyed :(

Sorry I went so fast down the motorway, Sam - our Splitty doesn't have a speedo cable at the moment, and Steve was usng the satnav to tell him his speed, but the battery had died so I was having to tell him how fast he was going for the cameras.
Sorry for getting us a bit lost too :o Steve was shouting out where he was going over the walkie talkie but was going out of range, so I thought if we went round that big roundabout enough times, someone else was bound to come past who we could follow- which they did :D
Shamrockez
15th April 2008, 19:35
I think Race To The Prom has a nice ring to it actually
And yes - roundabout and getting lost is surely intregal to having a good time at a show :D
