Ok here goes... My daily driver is up for sale because I have decided I would like a Mk1 goof

So… here we have a super cool bug from 1959 all original paintwork and interior. The paintwork has rusted all over and has the right look if you are into Rat-look. The car would also be a great basis for restoration if you wanted – stock, Resto-Cal or Cal-Look.
It is an original right hand drive (made for UK market) with all original panels, it has heavy rust to rear vents, front scuttle, door bottoms, front valance. Hooky’s Hi-Pax inspection panels have been fitted to engine bay for easy access to manifold nuts and spark plugs. Original 1200 gearbox, this thing flies and will happily sit at 70mph. Engine replaced at 81,000 miles with standard 1600. This bug is super reliable and everything works! The colour is Light Beige with blue-white interior, original wool headliner is all there and the dash is all complete. 12 volt remote socket for i-pod, phone or sat-nav. All wiring is original and semaphores are converted to 12 volt. Has adjustable beam. The wide-5 Snide Fuches are all in good condition with 2 new rear tyres (Yokahama) fitted a month ago. Original numberplate is still with the bug - 992 WMY.
The mileage is original at 88,000 – This car was found in a field about 6 years ago and it just keeps going through MOT’s each year without problems. The car is super cool and we would not restore it with all the original patina it has.
MOT til July 2008 and Taxed til end December 2008.
£3,500 ovno
may p/x for cash and mk1 golf gti or cabrio.

Yes Vinnie is up for sale still, he's just having a release bearing and a clutch pressure plate fitted and will be back from the garage middle of next week. More pictures on our photobucket account clicky here (http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee232/house_of_dubs/1959%20Rat-Bug/)

marc said is it the sportline you were offered on vzi??
rusts not too much of an issue on golfs, apart from the filler neck :D
come on someone buy vinnie, he's lovely :D
Dub-Diva
19th February 2008, 21:07
Noo it's not the sportline we were offered... it was nice but not quite what I am looking for. This bit of rust is in one of the panels - I want a goof we can "play" with to make it what we want, not the handywork of someone else if you know what I mean.
come on someone buy vinnie, he's lovely :D
oooh thanks, a personal recommendation!

Oooh that sounds lovely! Can't you put a deposit on it so the guy holds it for you until you sell Vinnie?
Also have you tried putting Vinnie on Ebay (with a reserve ;) ) Gems brother sold his '60 bug in 4 days on there, for the price he wanted :)

We're kinda hoping to hold off on flea-bay for a bit, but if he doesn't sell soon he might have to go on there ... will be sooooooo sad when he is driven away from us though :(

Yeah I could imagine, despite my ups and downs with Harry if I ever sold him there would be a lot of tears on my part.
Good luck! I hope you end up with the car you really want! :D

I would have vinnie, but i cant for 2 reasons
reason 1
have got about £3 spare, so a little bit far from the amount i would need lol
reason 2
its proving hard enough to find a house with parking for 3 cars round here, if we had 4 we would really struggle lol
I hope someone that will love him buys him from you :D

No he didn't, but all is not lost... he's a lovely bug and it's not a bad thing that he didn't go... could quite happily keep hold of him.... however we have a plan up our sleeves. Will let you all know on Monday if it's worked out or not.
And Jane.... your "final redundancy consultation" :(

Oooh, curious ;) Keep us posted, but I have to say that I'm amazed he didn't sell, he looks great :)
And Jane.... your "final redundancy consultation" :(
Mmm, it's been a helluva day :( We've all been on notice of redundancy since 10th Jan knowing that the equivalent of 10 full timers would be made redundant...and today was D day  I was lucky enough to keep my job, but 2 of my best friends in the company were not so lucky despite over 30 years service between them, and we lost 14 girls in total  :( Each time someone went in we all waited anxiously for them to come back down to find out if they were going or staying :( VERY stressful, and I am totally shattered now and feeling very numb.
My best friend not only lost her job today, but her hubby was laid off yesterday too...I really don't know what to say to her :'(
Anyway, sorry to hi jack your thread. Good luck with your cunning plan
Dub-Diva
28th February 2008, 21:31
Oh Jane that's good news about your job... I wouldn't have known what to say to your friend either, it's devastating enough for one person to lose their job but both husband and wife... that's just terrible... I'd probably be on a guilt trip that I'd kept my job :(
As for the cunning plan... all will be revealed on Monday - but Vinnie's not going if the deal's not right.
