View Full Version : Cruz To The Prom - 13/04/2008 - Weston Super Mare
Shamrockez
28th January 2008, 20:28
Did you know that the Cruz To The Prom down in Sunny Somerset is being organised for 13 April 2008??
Last year we had almost 200 Vee-dubs turn up and we are hoping for even more this year.
Open to all air-cooled VW's along with water pumping T25's, T4's & T5's along with Newbies we are hoping it is going to be bigger and better this year.
Each car can have a picnic rug size 'pitch' in front of the car if they wish to turn it into a giant swapmeet, but no tables etc and no traders, just a laid back chilled out day with fellow dubbers.
Planning for the cruise is well under way and updates will be made to the event website in due course......
£5 per vehicle is all it is with all proceeds going to the RNLI.
Watch this space and spread the word.
Check out the website WWW.CTTP.CO.UK (http://www.cttp.co.uk/) , you can register your interest or send me your questions to CTTP@HOTMAIL.CO.UK (CTTP@HOTMAIL.CO.UK)

Who's up for CTTP08 then? It was a lovely little show last year - excellent turn out of cars, nice cruise and a lovely setting on the sea front at Weston Super Mare.

I'm totally new to all this so can someone tell me what happens on the day?/what I have to do to go?/does Gertie have to be super duper shiny? etc etc
Also, I'm not positive I can go at the mo....when does this have to be paid? (I work each weekend but am currently under notice of redundancy, so if I'm laid off I'll be there :) )
Shamrockez
31st January 2008, 22:02
This one is pay on the gate :)
Basically everyone meets at the start location (yet to be confirmed) and everyone drives together to the Lawns at Weston. Then everyone walks round and looks at each other's cars etc :) then we go have lunch somewhere, come back, do a bit more walking round, then go home :)

If I'm out of a job, I'll defo be there, and if I'm still employed I'll try and book the day off cos it's not too far for me. Thanks again for the advice :)

I've actually managed to get leave for this day  so am planning on coming along as it sounds fun :) One major concern though...does Gertie have to be polished to within an inch of her life? :o
As I said before, I've never been to a show before, so if super duper clean is the order of the day, how do you cope with the fact that the journey there will have dirtied the car? I don't want to turn up with "just" a freshly washed car only to find everyone else's looking like they've been polished every day for the last 6 months! :ohthedrama:
Idiots guide needed please
Shamrockez
12th March 2008, 21:57
You can turn up with the car however you like :) Altho it's polite to have at least shown it a sponge before you leave ;)
Don't worry tho - there will be plenty of other cars which have travelled there and picked up dirt on the way, so you won't be the only one - far from it! :D
1958 Harry
12th March 2008, 21:57
Would it not be easier for the Brizzle lot to meet at McD's at Cribbs then we could travel down to the services on the Portishead junction and meet Lucy & Steve and Geoff & Jo save them travelling out their way :) then cruise to the start point together.
Will it be a first show for Bella Luce? - CTTP could be your debut show for all your Dubs ;)

Then go mate!
It's one of the closer shows to you! Just gotta cruise the A30 and M5 and you're there! Shouldn't take more than a few hours, easily do-able in a day!
My wife used to live in Cornwall and we drove to see each other at least every weekend! I once did Eastbourne to Cornwall and back in a day! Stopped in Newquay for 30 mins then turned round! :D
Shamrockez
4th April 2008, 07:41
Cruise is leaving at 12 and gathering time is 11, so Gordano at 10:30?
We're helping with marshalling tho, so we might have to go straight there.

We're going to be taking Robbie and Joey :)

also at the mo annoyingly I think ernie will be having his debut with 2 white walls and 2 normal tyres
robbie and joey :) cool

I've had the same problem with Big boyz toys in Thurrock. Ordered some window rubbers for my Bay 2 years ago, they sent half but still havn't send the rest! I've given up chasing them up, every time i call, i get fobbed off, i'll just have to go in there one day and cause some grief! They were quick enough to take payment tho! Punks... Swings and roundabouts i suppose, luck of the draw if it gets to you?

Ha ha, guess i invited that question... Nothing sinister or embarrasing, it's the name of my shop, Funkmaster Reds. Took "inspiration" if you can call it that from the american dj Funkmaster Flex.... My shop is 'funky' so thought it fitted... Now its stuck and i've become known as the Funkmaster.. lol May have something to do with it being sprayed down the side of my Bay?!

Don't judge me!!! It's a smokers gift shop.... Also known as a head shop or bong shop.... We sell all sorts of things that reprobates like... It's a counter-culture shop as it were. We sell bongs, papers, piercing bars, t-shirts, gadgets etc...
I run it myself as i messed up college due to my inability to "just say no!" back in the 90's. I don't smoke it now tho, just make money off people who do, but legally! :D
It's fun, you get to see all sorts. My customers are not just kids in hoods, we get all sorts thru to retired lawyers etc, even lil old ladies!
