Had my renewal through from Adrian Flux on Harry £259! Its bloody gone up so I rang Footman James, £99 fully comp, unlimited mileage, breakdown cover, £50 excess, 3rd party to drive other cars, agreed value of £6k!
Ummmm no brainer methinks

blimey thats good, to you hav eno claims to use on him?
we paid 1something this time for ernie, but thats for both of us, and with no no claims (as we are using them on new bug and van)
hoping that next year with a years no claims to use it might be a little less

Footman James don't care about no claims as its a classic car policy, as I've got a company car I'm not using my no-claims anyway :) and Gem has her own no claims/policy on her car.
My No-claims counted with Adrian Flux, and I could continue to have it (I have full no claims now so didn't want to lose it) but this is a massive difference, and I think your No-claims is valid for 3 years anyway :)

Our insurance is through Footman James, bug and splitty both on the policy with both of us driving is approx £150 - we get the same deal as you, and we got a discount by giving them our Volkszone membership number too!

Def trying them next year then
I'd be mad not to, unlimited mileage appeals to me, hate having limits

I think I'm with Flux with Robbie. Can't remember who Joey's with - Sureterm I seem to think.
I got a quote for Bella at Volksworld last year, including all suspension mods and cover for acessories and it was £280 I think.

We've just purchased a 72 Karmann Cabriolet and footman James beat everyone hands down at £101 for fully comp with both of us named as drivers, think Flux wanted £220 for same cover :( We already insure our 66 with them and couldn't beat them on price and for the deal you get with them :)

That's a great price for the Karmann. I paid £160ish for fully comp on my 71cabrio with Lancaster with a named driver and breakdown. Couldn't use my no claims though and I do have limited mileage (10,000miles I think).

We limited the mileage to 3000 miles a year as we will only use the cab during the summer months and we also have 2 other cars so 3k is plenty of mileage for us and it reduced the premium by a lot. Didn't use my no claims on it either as they are tied up in my daily driver ;)

Just done some ringing round for Bella. Footman James got down to £245 and Volksworld (HIC) could get it down to £210. Which I don't think is bad considering my age and her mods!
I'm gonna ring Flux when I get home too. Anymore that are friendly for younger drivers?

Yup :D And the nice thing is that I have 6 months to give them her number plate so I don't have to worry about her not being MOTd and registered within 7 days!

I am about to ring round for a quote for my 75 bay, I've changed the engine to a 2.0, carbs & exhaust so don't know what I am going to have to pay. got to be worth a good ring round and still get quality cover.

Our 72 Bay used to be insured for £97 a year for just Steve driving :)
What engine was in it? Cos the 2.0 could have been a standard engine for a 75 Bay.

we did have a 1600 type 1 which was all standard, but as we struggled on the motorway I built up a type 4 engine and fitted that with big carbs and a stainless 4-1 exhaust so its not really standard. Just wanted to cruise on the motorway at normal speeds, not dropping to 20-30mph on the motorway up hills, got quite scarey at times.

1600 was only fitted up to 72 I think, therefore a type 4 engine would have been standard in a late Bay IIRC.
TBH mods don't make much difference to classic insurance.

Try Footman James. They've done a great deal on our policy - if you're not already then join VolksZone and mention to them that you are a member, you'll get a discount ;) They will want your profile number to put on their records. The bill for our insurance of 1959 ratbug with soooped up engine and fuch wheels and our 1964 splitty was £134 for Mr Diva and myself to drive. And the best thing of all was unlimited mileage, most classic car policies have the mileage limited to 6,000 miles a year.

I know mine had a 1600 in it as I have the original german paperwork that came with it from new. I was dreading the renewal but hopefully from what you say it shouldn't be too bad, this is the problem when you own far too many cars, as you know from your collection, but hey it's worth it.
