Should it?

After taking the interior out I noticed the voltage regulator was ticking like a mad thing when I rev (and in just normal driving/acceleration)

Should it be doing this it's a brand new bosch one, or might it be something as simple as a bad earth/connection somewhere?

they do tick, but best to check the earths just in case cos it shouldn't be doing it that much :)

True!

Altho when I first put the back end of Bella's wiring (and the ignition) together, when I turned the key, she started, the driver's side rear light came on, and you could remove the key and she'd still stay live and running :o

There has been a few posts on VZi about the voltage regulators ticking, might give you a few clues :)
