So is this stand final and can we asume that people who say they are going to go are gonna turn up...im thinking the OE show here, that sucked a bit didnt it with people dropping out without explanation.
Graham
24th November 2007, 17:47
Everyone on the indoor stand needs to have a hotel room booked so it`s a bit harder to drop out - I`m sure people who dropped out of the OE show had good reasons to anyway.

They may have had good reasons...none of which anyone actually knew about! Anyways, i just think its a bit off arranging a club stand and not actually giving other people the option of being part of it, especially as there were quite a few people at the indoor stand last year who haven't even been asked.

I really don't think booking a hotel room is gonna stop people from dropping out!

We found out the reasons afterwards.
The UD stand was done with Charlies approval while the site was down as it has to be done quite quickly to guarantee an indoor space and get hotel rooms booked. At that time we had no idea how long the site would be down for.
Also, we could only have 5 cars max and I needed names and pics to apply for the club stand.
Sorry if it appears to have been done underhand, that wasn`t the intention.
I`m sure we can get an outdoor stand organised that can be arranged a bit more diplomatically now we are back up again.
Also, there may well be one more space on the indoor stand if I talk very nicely to the organisers. Any people pulling out will also have their spaces offered on the forum.

No, but it might make them think twice about it.
BTW, payment for the hotel (£65 payable to UD) is by cheque with the booking as UD have block booked the rooms. I sent mine last weekend and the money is out of my account already.

I'm not getting at you personally G and I guess it was over all a group decision but I just think this smacks of cliquey, especially as a lot of people who have represented Evvo over the summer shows time and time again haven't even had a look in.
I also think it's a bit unfair that Evvo VIP members do not seemingly get priority on stands as first promised. I am also fed up of Southwesties constantly propping up the club stands, the Northerners never seem to come out the woodwork!
Graham
24th November 2007, 18:38
Probably is a bit cliquey because I only had a few e-mail addresses so it was a relatively small group decision done rather rapidly :p
With the benefit of hindsight we could have maybe hung on until the site was back and see who wanted to go. I did ask the UD chap if I could book a stand without names and pics of cars but no go.
I will make sure that VIP members get priority on any remaining stands I organise next year.
BTW, us Southwesties are hardcore, you know that !

who wanted to come then that isnt on the indoor stand?! Not quite sure how people expect the first stand of the season to have been organised when the forum has been offline this last month. An email was sent out to the moderators and all of the people who are on the list to attend the indoor stand are VIP members. As moderators of the forum it is our job to make decisions on things such as this and that is what we have done.
There is nothing to stop other people, as Ray is doing organising an outdoor stand for UD 2008. The indoor one is harder to get into. Those from this year know that - we only managed to get 6 on this year's stand because one nice guy from club lupo moved over to let Andy in.
The decision was made with the tools we had at the time and the email addresses we had.
As for people dropping out at the last minute this is something you will NEVER stop unless people physically have to pay for their show tickets before hand which is gonna be highly unlikely.
I didnt go to Oxford Edition and lost out on a hotel room (£75) and my reasons for going will not be revealed on an open forum but needless to say it was circumstances beyond my control. I am severely limiting my shows in 2008 and will not have a bug for most of them :p

That's fair enough G, I, like a lot of people on here, just didn't know what was going on. Most on this forum had no news as to what has been happening for the last couple of weeks and a fair few peeps don't even know this site is back!
I understand a lot of hard graft has gone into Evvo recently but I'm just a bit disappointed by the way this particular thing was handled...

As I said, with hindsight if we`d have known when the forum was going to be back on line we could have left it a bit longer. But rather than risk losing a stand at the first major show of the year we took the decision to go ahead with booking a stand with the people we could contact quickly.
I did ask if we could just reserve a stand without giving specific names but that wasn`t possible.
We live and learn etc etc

OK don't ban me it's just IMHO :o
I too was amazed that one of the 1st posts on the new but not this evvo forum was about the UD display. Also that it had been finalised.
How many on that stand have dropped out of other shows over the last season ?
BVF was embaressing, a plot for 15 Bugs and 5 turned up ?
OE Show stand barely scraped through :(
Santa Pod with 6 drop outs
Ian and Vicky showed their support at BVF
I've shown my support at almost everyshow.
For the record i didn't want to be on the UD indoor stand as i was pretty sure i wasn't going due to the distance. ;)
It just seems that that this was all done in the " Clique " way mentioned previously :(
No email adresses but when evvo came back online there seemed to be a shed load of email addresses in my email to say it was back.
----------------------------------------------------------------
New evvo, new members and old members. I realise that the site was down but surely this could of been handled in a better way  :o

Like i said was just my humble opinion.
BUT..
The site is back up and running now. i could go on and on, but what would be the point. Had Ian and Vicky not posted nor would i. Just felt bad when i saw it had been done in the previous evvo site.
But water under the bridge :)
I shall look forward to the pics of evvo taking Ultimate Dubs by storm

Apologies if anyone thinks I fcuked up organising the stand, but with only 5 spaces there was always going to be some unhappy people.

I didn't arrange this year's or next years indoor stand but judging by the other club talent that are attending this show, I should think G and the other mods/admin picked the cream of the crop to 'represent' and with only 5 spaces this year, I hope there's some belters on the evvo stand at the show, Pork's being one of them, and using his car as an example of what kind of car should be on a NB stand.
As some people know, there's some serious clubs and cars in the UK so picking cars what mods/admin think are evvo's best shouldn't be argued really.
Graham
12th December 2007, 15:03
If no one else sells their Bugs we should have a pretty good stand
The idea was we had a range of modded cars, from ours at one end with just springs and wheels to Dans at the other end with pretty much everything !
Would have been nice to get a standard Bug on there, maybe if we can get another space we will.
Charlies new Skud will nicely show that we`re not just a New Bug club now as well.

Just had the following from Dean at UD -
Hi Graham
Just checking to see whether or not you will be needing any on-site hotel rooms for Sat 8th March at Ultimate Dubs.
So far only 2 rooms have been booked for your club.
I have attached a booking form (only double rooms are available now).
Could you email us back asap to let us know either way.
Many Thanks

You mad man! I read about you spending 6 hours on a car, all good bebe, using products (polishes, cleaners and waxes) then if you use a clay afterwards, you take off EVERYTHING you've just applied!!!
The clay is designed to remove bonded contaminents, tree sap, fallout, etc etc aswell as layers of polish and wax! It's literally stripping the surface bare so you can apply the product better and safer. And also needed if your doing paint correction. If your using the clay bar afterwards your back to square one mate!!
Here ya go dude:
