HOW TO – Glow Plug change.
I changed my Glow plugs so here is a How-to, I have a none PD engine but it should be similar to the PD engine and all diesel engines for that matter. I doesn’t take long, 1.5 hours max.
<O:p
Tools and equipment needed
New Glow plugs! 4 needed check at the shop they are correct for your car.
10mm deep socket.
Ratchet for your socket.
17mm Spanner.

Remove the engine cover, if you don’t know how to do this don’t read on, just take the car to a garage.

1. Remove black plastic that sends the power to the plugs (number 1)
2. To reveal the actual plugs (number 2)

1. Using your 10mm deep socket remove the glow plugs one at a time.
2. Plugs 1 and 3 are very easy
3. Plugs 2 and 4 are a bit more involved because to get to the plugs with the 10mm socket you first have to move the injector pipes out of the way
4. Remove the injector pipes using the 17mm spanner. There are 4 injector pipes and a nut at each end they all need to be removed.
5. Circled is one of the nuts on the first pipe.

1. Picture showing the old (left) and new (right) glow plugs
2. Fitting them is just like spark plugs. I put a bit of copper slip on the threads.
3. Do not over tighten the new plugs, I am sure they have a torque setting but I didn’t torque them myself.

1. I decided to steam clean my engine while I was at it!
<O:p
OK This is the way I did it on mine. If you manage to hurt yourself or break anything by doing it my way then that is your fault this is just for advice.
Good luck.
PS some of the more observant ones amonst you will notice I removed the plastic electrical pipe for picture 1 and then re-fitted it for picture 2 - LOL It was just the best picture I took for step 2 thats all.
