How To: Remove the Hanbrake Console.

Remove the 2 pieces surrounding the arm rest. These pop off and you will need both front seats pulled to the front as far as they go to give you enough room. Pull the sigle sided side first. Then the side with the flaps off next.

You will see 1 bolt size 13 on the spanner and the bolt is on the side of the metal stump that was behind the plastic parts you just took off. Unscrew this bolt. There is only one and as your undoing it the arm rest will drop down slightly. Just let it drop as you unscrew. When the bolt is off the arm rest is free

Put the bolt and the arm rest somewhere safe.

If you have the 2 cup front with cigar lighter right under the Center console remove the 2 cups that slide out to the left by yanking or carefully lifting using a little more pressure each time. This will only remove when it is in the central position, not in the slided out position, put this somewhere safe, don't start leaving the parts in the car as you run out of room.

The cigar lighter plastic rectangle thing just lifts off again i yanked it off. But be careful not to lift too high as you need to unclip the plug that feeds the cigar lighter.

Next is to disconnect the 12v thing next to the handbrake if you have one there. First Lift the Hanbrake console up from behind where the Arm Rest was. It should come up easily, then work your way pulling it up all the way to the front. Disconnect the 12v plug thing via the plug tab. You can see it if you look under it

Now move up to the Gear Gaitor. When you lift (or at least when i lifted up the top half of the Handbrake console near the Gaitor, the rubber Gaitor came up too. Just wiggle it until the plastic rectangle comes away from the leather gaitor. Then feed both the gaitor and the rubber gaitor through the top half of the console. You DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE the leather gaitor to remove the console top OR bottom. It will just slide out at an angle

Finally remove the piece that is the dip under the handbrake. It will just lift out with zero force allowing you to lift off the top part od the console. If you don't do this there will not be enough space to left out over the handbrake. This piece is shown in the 1st pic below

You are now able to freely remove the top part of the console and put these in a safe place.

Now the last bit. You will see 2 circular coves half way along the lower part of the console part that is left in. Pull back both front seats as far back as they go. Use a small flathead and prize off these grey milk chocolate buttons and they will reveal a screw either side. There those wierd starish shaped screws. Remove these. One by one. Don't worry if they fall into the console as you only need to pull the side away a bit and they drop out. Then look at the back of the console and after removing the cup/ashtray you will see 2 more of the same size screw things. Reomove these and put those screws in a safe place. Move to the front where the cigar lighter was and you will see 2 more screws. Be careful these don't drop out as the chances are they will fall safely into the gulley but there is a hole in the middle and you don't want them to drop through there.

Then just lift off the final piece

Now admire how much dirt and rubbish is under the console now that it's removed
