can't beat MEGUIARS for polish. i use the gold class liquid wax. its the dogs danglies. HALFORDS are doing a 3 for 2 on cleaning stuff so get it from there and get yourself a claybar kit while your at it. did mine yesterday and can't believe the difference.

On dark coloured cars totally recommend Poorboyz wax Alex sells you've seen the pics of chris's goof from ultimate dubs and he used it then and has done for a while now with continually good results

The Megs GC Wax is a good start BUT, it's an old formula that doesn't last, doesn't like the sun, and doesn't protect very well, and is pretty much the same price as alot of other, better products.

Theres a couple of directions you can go with dark colours.... Using a sealant (synthetic wax) to give a very bright, reflective and clear look that will allow metallic flake to show through and really 'pop', or use a wax to get a deeper glossy shine that will give a wetter appearance.

For the more reflective shine I'd go with either my own brand sealant @ £8.95, or something like Duragloss 105 TPP @ £12.75. Easy to apply and remove and will give great protection and shine.

For the deeper glossier shine, something along the lines of Poorboys Natty's Blue Carnauba Paste Wax @ £11.95, or in the next week we'll have a complete new line of waxes in stock from Dodo Juice, these will more to the tune of £30.00 but, will easily compete against many waxes alot more expensive.

Another thing to consider is using a cleanser or glaze before waxing to help prep the surface. A cleanser will contain light cleaners (non abrasive) to decontaminate the paint and give a perfectly clean surface for your final wax or sealant to bond to. A glaze will help to fill in any very minor marks or swirls on a temporary basis and give a more even surface for a wax or sealant to bond to, helping to give a more even shine...... Both these types of products will also help create that final shine.

Claying will also make one of the biggest differences to the feel of the paint you can do. Again, the Meg's kit is a good start but, the actual claybar can get a bit crumbly over time, and isn't very elastic.... Something like Sonus Green Ultrafine Clay @ £6.95 is a finer grade so safer for the beginner, and more elstic, so will last longer over time. Couple this with a bottle of Poorboys Quick Detailer... Either Spray & Wipe @ £5.95 which is ideal on cars never clayed before as it has a bit of cleaning power to it, or Spray and Gloss @ £5.95 which is more lubricated and ideal for already prepped cars just needing maintenance, you'll be well away to a cracking finish.

Anyway, to answer the wheel cleaner question.... Duragloss All Wheel Cleaner is excellent, and a good price @ £5.49, so would be my first recommendation for all but polished aluminium wheels. If you have polished Ally wheels, or wheels with a polished lip, then I'd go for Four Star ph neutral Wheel Gel @ £8.49... More money but TOTALLY safe on any surface.

Hope that helps :)
Alex.

i can either get in Duragloss' Chrome Wheel Cleaner to order (takes a couple of days), which has special cleaners that suit chrome better than other wheel cleaners, such as the All Wheel Cleaner but, the best one I'd go for is the Four Star Ph neutral gel, as it is by far the kindest to very specialist wheel types (this will be back in stock this week).

For protection of the wheels, Poorboys Wheel Sealant is the Daddy... Fabulous protection and shine, and will help to resist dust and dirt, and make wheels much easier to clean in future.

Hope that helps :).

Lol... no worries at all..... The Meg's stuff (no matter where you get it from ;)), is a good stepping stone but, one you get onto slightly more specialist products, theres no turning back! :D.

Cheers.
