[Blue Smoothie]

my 1972 GT Beetle "marge / blue smoothie" - was apple green (of the 2,500 GT's sold, only 250 were green) - obviously mine isnt so apple anymore - its now mazda eunos blue - but there are bits of apple dotted around - its solid as a rock but i dont have the time/dough at this time to do anything with it. i have had it since 1998 :)

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e79/badcab/vworld.jpg this was one of many but my best and fave :cool: ,fully restored by me , it was a 1970 on a H reg , i dechromed it , welded up the rear valance and smoothed it , welded the petrol flap on the qtr and put the filler under bonnet, smoothed the dash and fit rev gauge etc,repainted it BMW jet black with 6x coats of the clear stuff :cool: , had the seats retrimmed in cream jag leather with fat buicuit inserts and black piping,retored an original set of 4 lug Empi sprint star rims , dropped the car 1 spline at the rear and fitted sway-aways to the front beam (fag packet used to get stuck :eek: :laughing: ), with help built a 1835 lump with twin 40's etc and a 1200 gearbox for quick get aways :eek: :laughing: :cool: , i've missed some bits -T bars,us plates etc... but ya get the idea :cool:

Ok then, hot from the scanner, managed to find the album while unpacking for our new house!!!
I've been into the Air-cooled side of thing since I was 15, although I did have a 8 year break what with marrage an houses and such likes. So here my History file, although this is not all of it, these are some of the pics....

Ok, heres me at 15 with my first bug, a 70 1302s bought this for £150!! Mind you it was fooked.. was past a resto but a good field car by all accounts, and yes they are original Lemmertz wheels... I seem to remember getting £200 back then when I broke it, the guy gave my old man the cash and left like a shot!!! I know why now!!!

Then came the Gold 1303 (yep a gold 1303!!) this was my 17th birthday pressie!! Used to drive the 20mile trip to Tec every day until a mate? Wrote it off!!! (and it was for sale at the time!!

So had that for a while then got a taste for another 03... and bought this, like this!!! A limited edition 75 campaighn model!!!!

Thers some lovely cars on here , I especially like the '03 Campaign Ed. , coz I used to have one! HKS 244N it was , my 1st VW as well! Unfortunatly I didnt take any pics of it , at all , not even when it was done up (Black , every chrome acessory going ,monza 4 tip and polished '70s Wolfrace slot mags..schweet!) My second dub was an orange 1969 1300 bug , again , although I took about 5 pics of it , ive lost them all!
After that i got my Apfelgrun GT. Luckily I was taking pics of my cars by then , so I have some pics!

Now we have Vinnie an original r/h drive UK spec '59... 'ard b'stard :D looks ubber cool now, but going in for total restoration in October :eek: Only had him a month and already spent over £500 on him... put in ScatShifter, uprated his Steering and his brakes overhauled and new fuel tank are being done tomorrow :ohthedrama:

This is what i currently have as my daily driver :D

1979 Bay panel van. Italian export model featuring opening 1/4 lights, brought into the UK in 2005 and converted to RHD using NOS parts. Now featuring a lowered front beam with uprated shocks, 2 spline drop at the back with radius notches spring arms. SSP rep Fuchs all round with 165/50 x 15 winter slams up front and 185/65 Yokos at the back. Original 1600 TP motor just about to be run-in on 97k miles ;)

'72 1300 in Texas Yellow. Featuring adjustable front beam, lowered rear, uprated shocks, front disks and poly bushed all round. Still going strong up in Leeds i believe....give him a wave if you see him about. He owes me a few beers for the work i put in him when i had 'im!! ;)

And ths is Gabby my 61 Karmann Ghia which I got in August I have done lots of work on her and she is now tucked away in garage for winter,Im workin on her at the weekends and am awaiting a complete new interior from the states Ive removed the bumpers and welded up holes in body and smoothed bodywork replaced every rubber seal on car and at moment im stripping engine and rebuilding with performance parts so that will keep me busy until next years show season starts.

No Luce Ive welded up bumper holes and smoothed over on rear I have other plans to come keeping T-Bars on front welded up front holes on wings and removed door mirror and filled holes fitting swan neck mirrors
