Just thought id say ello. Ive come over from uk-mkivs.net as were buying the MRS a new beetle. Looking at one with a Votex kit at the mo which is pretty nice... Only thing is its missing the rear diffuser / valence.

Any ideas on part numbers or if anyone has one?

Cheers!

Hey There Wez - my husband Mr Evvo goes on the same forum with his Goof what's your username. If its a Votex valance your after I have a part in my garage I can check the part number in the morning if you like. Post some pics of your motor up you will find mine in the Members Ride section :)

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Its a votex diffuser / valence im after. The bit that clips on the bumper under the number plate. Do you know what i mean... Seems this one were looking at is missing.

Charlie, on uk-mkivs im (nice and original) Wez  Tho havnt been paying much attention to the MK4 world. I had a Series 1 MK1 Golf GTi for a while so the MRS has been using the MK4 but ive sold the MK1 so want mine back and she wants a beetle... ;) I couldnt say no. They have grown on me! :p If ya could get back to me with the part number tho that would be amazing! :beerchug:

We should be collecting next week sometime ill grab some pics after a good clean and polish...

I shall duly go an investigate the bit you need - I am currently missing this on mine at the moment as I am having to have some work done on the exhaust as I have a twin exit Jetex that gets in the way and I need to convert it to a hidden system instead.

What engine are you looking at for your wife's beetle :)

Morning...:beerchug:

Its a 1.8T. I know the engines pretty well after having my golf for 3 years now. Also thinking i can have a fiddle with it... ;)

Shame about the Jetex thought that's a good looking Exhaust. Ill prob be checking out the Miltek Twin Jet for Kims at some point.

Hey Wez

Mine is a 1.8T colour concept. I've fiddled a fair bit with the engine I will send you the link to the spec so far but you can certainly get a nice bit of power out of it and take it comfortably to the 220BHP mark. If you've got a votex rear on the car you can only have a hidden system or have part of the rear bumper cut out to accomodate the exhaust as there's no room for a twin pipe as they are too long.

Ah right... Hence why you changing to the hidden system. Cool cheers saves me finding out the hard way.

Tho i noticed ff_rabbit has the twin exit on his votex rear or is that a different rear end? Is it the Turbo S rear?

That's the V5 Sport rear - slightly different.

Ah got ya... :( Shame that is. Anybody modded the V5 and Votex that you know of?

ff_rabbit has the V5 as lovely lucy said. Modded as in how? Daryl on here has modded his rear end or rather his bugs I should say to achieve a totally different look and Dan Porschetrimmr has also tinkered with his. Its soo beautiful though u dont need to do much ;)

I've seen ff_rabbits ill have to have a look for Dan Porschetrimmr's car as well... As for modding it, I wasn't sure if you could fit the V5 diffuser or maybe cut carefully where the exhaust would exit, letting the twin pipe pass without fouling the bumper...

Wez - you can cut out the bottom part of the valance but it needs to be done with an air saw and then repainted which ironically ended up being more than getting the new pipes made for my exhaust  where are you guys based u should try and meet up with us at one of the forthcoming shows

Yup! :) Thats Emmit... Both the bain and love of our lives. lol She is a '66 and been a lot of hard work. Complete strip and respray. Had to replace all doors and most panels. Still some stuff to do in the interior but ready for the shows this year. Notice you have a little collectrion yourself... :D

Heres ours... http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7431/dsc02599wm0.jpg

She's a beauty! :D I know what you mean about the bain and the love - Joey (our 66) is like that too :D wouldn't be without him tho! We have a 61 too :)

We've replaced most panels you can think of, lowered and narrowed front beam and done an IRS conversion on him - he flies now tho :D happily sit at 70+ on the mways :)

Wez

Ah the IRS Conversion... :p Would be on my list but Kims car has to come first for once. Lucky to have a great choice in cars nice one...

Shamrockez
11th May 2007, 11:11
It's well worth it - but damned expensive :( but once we worked it all out the actual conversion was pretty easy to do DIY :)
